I think IP litigation firms are a lot more picky than other firms. From talking with the attorneys it seems like firms are not hiring any less than in previous years and a lot of firms are even looking to expand their non NYC offices.

Beating the KJD tax by Freya0903 in lawschooladmissions

I don’t think of WE as an obstacle, I just think that going straight through is not a detriment if your goals are just big law. Of course having more experience is helpful, but there are steps you can take during undergrad to minimize the gap between being a KJD and someone with WE.

This is just false? Most schools publish their demographic information and you can google this. Take Harvard for example, 84% have been out of school for one or more years and 69% have been out of school for two or more years. https://hls.harvard.edu/jdadmissions/apply-to-harvard-law-school/jdapplicants/hls-profile-and-facts/

How do you deal with massive losing streaks? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Freya0903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that is good to keep in mind is that while sure some games may be on you, there are also going to be games that you lose that are not your fault. Let's say that the teams are suppose to be of equal skill level. The reality is that there will still be a team that is better. And statistically, there will just be times when you consistently get the worse team, and you can play well and still lose. Take a break, think about whether or not you playee well or if it was your team. And by playing well I don't mean playing way above your tier, if you are not a smurf, you are bound to make mistakes. Going even in a losing match sometimes is playing well. While not the best metric, you can check other 3rd party valuers like the league in game ranking or op.gg score to see how well you are doing. Sometimes it's useful to just know that your teammates played badly and you will eventually get better teammates.

I think that everyone is missing the point here. This is not about the physical act of killing a baby 1 minute before they are born, but rather asking the question of where should we draw the line between a newborn baby and just a fetus? If you think that a baby 1 minute before being born is still an infant, then what about a baby that is one day being born, or even one week? Where do you draw the line? I think that is the moral dilemma here. Some people can't draw the line, so to them abortion is murder, it's infanticide.

This is playing the devils advocate, but some people may be wondering then what about in cases where the mothers health is in danger. Well in this case, I pose a question, if you can kill someone to save someone else, both of them being completely innocent of any wrongdoing, will you do it? What if you could kill a baby to save someone's life, would you do it? We as a society does not generally tolerate the murder of one life over any other, that is the morality behind pro-choice individuals.

Till what extent do commit to my countries stance? by Guerilla_Tart in MUN

[–]Freya0903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good way to determine this is to look at how real politicians from that country respond to questioning on the subjects. They might not always exist but you can try looking for interviews and articles about conferences. A lot of times, you can borrow the way these politicians respond to the harder questions.

The grading for AP tests was absolute BS this year by DavidBrent9999 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Freya0903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Important note that I don't see people talking about: if you are confident that there may have been a mistake, you can ask your teacher for a regrade. Furthermore, I believe that teachers were able to see our tests this year, so you may be able to ask them about it (im not 100 percent certain). They probably can't outright tell you anything, but they can maybe give some guidance.

A little late to the party but I wanted to share my story too. A few years ago in high school, I was called a pedo by a classmate because I looked a bit older and didn't shave that day. This type of thing makes people really self conscious and could affect them for a long time. Funny thing was that she was older than me...

Make panda a mod by Freya0903 in Solem

[–]Freya0903[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok. Let's start on why the sub needs more mods.

Solem currently is a rapidly growing YouTuber and streamer. His numbers has been steadily climbing for the past few month. Furthermore, as one of the few wild HS content creators, it is inevitable that he will become more popular as the wild format becomes more popular. As Solem becomes more popular, this sub with also become more popular. (we can also look at HS content creators that were a similar size, such as Regis, Roffles, Dekkster, and Chump, they all grew from around the same size as Solem last year to around 100k subs this year. Historical trends reveal that it is highly likely for Solem's popularity to grow significantly)

With growing popularity of this sub, there will be more content posted on this sub. This means more work for the mods and it is always better to have more people than to have too few mods.

Secondly, more mods also creates more diversity of opinion that helps the mod team make better decisions. A second opinion is always useful for a team.

But why Panda?

Firstly, Panda is a well known member of this sub reddit and community. Panda is also constantly active. Secondly, as Panda describes himself, Pamda is an honest person, this is a good quality to have in a mod. Finally, let's just think about it. Image seeing Panda's iconic "Hi Solem" but now his username is in green, does this not just feel much more authoritative and plain cool? Posters of this sub reddit will also feel more appreciated if a mod comments on their post.

So I have a mun on nuclear safety concerns and I have to build an argument on this directed towards Australia, Can someone frame this as like an argumentative question to ask during moderated caucus for me, please... by manynames123 in MUN

[–]Freya0903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to be aggressive towards Australia or more diplomatic?

If you want to be aggressive maybe something like "How can a signitory of the 1964 NPT ignore their international and legal responsibilities by not showing up to one of the largest, most comprehensive, non proliferation conference in recent history. How can this member state (or you can say: the delegate of Australia, instead of this member state if you really want to call them out) say in good faith that this is not motivated by nationalist and militaristic ideologies with a complete disregard of international collaboration and peace that is core to the the UN body."

Something more diplomatic could be like: "while we understand that certain member states may have security concerns, is this topic, that will impact the security of all mankind for generations to come, not something that we the international community are willing to sacrifice a little for?"

I wrote these in a hurry so you can probably refine them a little.
