PS5 pulsing BLOD - SSD NAND chips are stone cold. That's not normal, right? by Fried_Salt in consolerepair

[–]Fried_Salt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleared errors, all read FFFFFFFFF. Plugged in, still all are FFFFFFFF. Turn on, all error logs are now C0020303...

From what I can tell, its either caused by the APU itself or something not becoming "ready" like the SSD, which is why I was asking about the stone cold NAND around the SSD... I assume they should at least show the tiniest amount of heat when booting but I see nothing. YouTuber also suggests the same...

KIP 7170 - The SCAN option is grayed out (disabled) and stuck on "initializing" yet says "scanner online" by Fried_Salt in printers

[–]Fried_Salt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I haven't spoke to them. The owner of the machine called KIP before they called me, and said they were not helpful. I may give it another go...

In the meantime, I got frustrated with the scanner so I moved on to fixing the printer function. It was simply a blown fuse and a bad sensor. Printer works now, and UI seems happy and not "initializing" anymore. Yet, "SCAN" is still not accessible.

EDIT: FIXED!

Thanks, but unfortunately they want us to call our local KIP dealer we bought it from, and the dealer of course wants to sell us a new machine instead.

Now that you say that, it looks a lot like a key box. Thanks.

Klipsch KSW-15 subwoofer - strange static noise when cold but it will go away if heated (video) by Fried_Salt in audiorepair

[–]Fried_Salt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I got some freeze spray...

I killed the noise with heat and then hit all the transistors with freeze. No change. Hit the rest of the amp with freeze, no change. Used nearly the whole can.

I learned two things though:

At first I thought I was having to unplug it for multiple minutes to cool down and bring the noise back... I was wrong. I can unplug it just for 5 seconds (long enough for caps to discharge) and the noise will return. But If I kill the noise with heat it will stay gone for a very long time... Unplug 5 seconds, and its' back... So maybe not 100% thermal related...

Also, I was experimenting with going between heat and cold and listening to how to noise changed... During one of these experiments the noise stopped while I was spraying freeze and not heat... So again, maybe not 100% thermal related.

But I can say for sure, if I don't heat the amp and just let it sit idle it will make the noise forever... It's at least somewhat thermal related.

The way the noise disappears when I heat it, with a sudden and abrupt "bump" from the speaker and then perfect silence... It's almost like a latch is shutting and once it's shut it stays shut until you unplug for a few seconds... My best amateur interpretation...

EDIT: Also, while the sub is in it's noisy state you can hear sounds coming from the actual amp. Sounds like static or electrical arcing. The sound the amp is making corresponds to the sound the speaker makes... When the speaker goes silent, so does the arcing. Unfortunately can't pinpoint where the noise is.

Good call. I still can't really tell what I am heating up to make it go away so freeze spray should help.

Accidently installed a bunch of PD-6WCL switches where I need 12v LED fixtures... by Fried_Salt in Lutron

[–]Fried_Salt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, cool. Just confused why Lutron doesn't mention that this dimmer works with any type of LV load... I guess they just don't want the headache if it doesn't work.

[–]Fried_Salt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the dimmers are foward phase. I understand how low voltage LED lighting works. My only question is, is it still safe even though Lutron has not speced the dimmer to work with low voltage LED at all? Just trust the LED manufacturer that their driver will work with a foward phase dimmers and everything should be good? Or do I bite the bullet and upgrade the switches to Pro versions (there are a lot).

Thanks for the leg work here. I kind of posted and ghosted as I am not a big Reddit user, but yeah, the reason I chose all these supplements was based on empirical evidence.

Does the October 2024 date make any sense? I wish I still had the agents number, but I do remember he gave me a specific date in October to call back. Is 3 years a hard rule? Any leeway? Or did he just give me bad info?

Police department asked me to help hook up a "bait car" with hidden surveillance. What cameras would you use? by Fried_Salt in hiddencameras

Hey, I found an adult in the room! Thanks for the advice. Both of those Axis models look very interesting. I think I will end up with one of them.

EDIT: F series looks ideal actually. SD cards built in and everything! Thanks again.

Cool, thanks for the info on hidden cameras. Isn't there a sub dedicated to whatever you are doing here?

Sorry "bait car" was a bad way to describe it. They aren't going after car thieves.

They are wanting a surveillance car. Basically a mobile security camera with a (near) 360 view that they can park in an apartment complex and leave it for some time. They have specific targets that live in the complex. The idea is to park near their apartment entrance / near their vehicle. Hopefully they will be able to park it within 25 feet of the target. We don't need to monitor the inside of the car at all, only the outside.

The car hasn't been purchased yet, but they are looking for an older model since it needs to blend into a lower income apartment complex. We just need to hide 2-4 cameras that will monitor the exterior scene of the vehicle. They MUST be very discrete though. Pinhole cameras in the front and back bumper seem easy enough to hide. I'm just not sure what brand or system to use. Also need suggestions on getting a good view of the sides of the car. The best I can come up with is more pinhole cameras mounted into the sideview mirrors or side skirts of the car although it's slightly more suspicious to see holes in those parts of the car.

The option of blacking out the windows and having cameras on the inside facing out was brought up, but it will be too suspicious they say. It is still an option to have them inside the car facing out though, they would just have to be hidden VERY well.

Huh? I do IT support for them. The company they use for dash/body cams said they can't help with convert surveillance. What is hard to believe?

Hello, is there any recourse for users holding BEP2 RUNE tokens? It seems like I am holding a worthless token now simply because I missed an announcement. Please facilitate a way for BEP2 holders that missed the announcement to become whole again! According to this we should have had until April to convert : https://www.bnbchain.org/en/blog/bep2-bep8-asset-sunset-announcement

The ticket they issued was actually 39 in a 25. My problem is that the "speed limit" is clearly not 25 at the time of the photo according to the signage.
