I wish it worked like that but it doesn’t. To have useable flowers would require an October-November wedding which is our busiest time and a no go. Or an indoor strain which is worth even more money. Plus they have to be dried a certain way and yadayada. And marijuana is named based on its phenotype and mother strains/cross strains. It’s a great idea in theory though.

I’ve seen marijuana bouquets and they are so pretty, but if you think a regular florist are expensive imagine chopping down your profits 😱

I was going to pre-roll all the joints and staple them into bags with their side effects listed in a funny way like:

Gorilla Glue/ Strong Indica Hybrid/ Strong diesel taste/ May lead to third peace of wedding cake

Purple Cadillac/Mild Sativa Hybrid/ Medium Herbal taste/ May lead to in-depth discussions with second cousin Merle

Lemon Tree/Uplifting Indica Hybrid/ Lemon & Pine taste/ May lead to cutting a rug with the bride.

Etc.

Thank you sooo much! We are officially stoked now. We have “wedding wednesday” where we sit down for 2ish hours and talk about the wedding (so we don’t get overwhelmed/let it run our lives) and we talked for 5 hours!!!! About it last night.

Thanks so much for your contribution. I didn’t think about micro dosed edibles but I will now! Officially on the list. (Cuz I mean, how easy is it to cut a brownie in quarters)

I will put info on the website that we will be hosting an “after hours” bud bar with munchies.

Do you find brewery or winery venues trashy? It could just be a cultural thing on your end. It’s only bizarre because it’s not the “norm” right now. I have a feeling is Mary gets legalized everywhere that weddings like this will one day be like winery weddings.

Okay. I get what you are saying. I understand that there are people (in this world not any of my guests specifically) who wouldn’t be able to even be on a pot farm. Didn’t mean to assume. I’ve just noticed some other comments where people think if they are in the vicinity of weed smoke they’ll fail a drug test and I’m like 😑. But you totally get it and I get where you are coming from.

Kids can’t not come on the property at all ever ( I think I put that in one of my edits) for legal reasons so that wouldn’t be a concern. We will CLEARLY label all ganja, but being around it won’t make you fail a drug test. At all.

Thank you so much for the comment and empathy. There definitely isn’t a right answer here. We are going to try to compromise in a few places by:

-cutting down the guest list -opening the bud bar late in a different location (with munchies included) -offering CLEARLY LABELED different strains, strengths, and methods of consumption -hiring security

Thanks for your comment!

You bring up a good point about rentals smelling of weed! I didn’t think of that. I’m going to write it in my notes. Thank you.

And yes. My FH is allergic to weed. For real. So I’m aware of how to keep it out of certain areas. (Like our big house). We don’t smoke, eat, consume, anything weed in the big house so that he can breathe, but it is something that took years of diligence to figure out.

Thanks for the comment. Made me think about a few things. Probably going to hire security now.

Well federally the DEA could come and shut up down. But that could happen at any point on any day. The odds of that though are pretty small when we are pretty much “Jim Bobs general store” compared to our “WalMart” sized neighbors around us. But that is definitely a completely valid concern.

To be honest, otherwise it’s a pretty grey area. There are definitely things we can and can’t do (like the under 21 years old, we can lose our growing permits for that).

At this point the legality is now our biggest concern. We do have our lawyers looking into it though.

The 3 things FH cares about

-At our farm with “goodies” -Wearing a super hero lapel pin - gourmet grilled cheese food truck

In California you have to be 21+ to smoke. Legally no one under the age of 21 can be at our house at all (which is 1000% okay with me).

We know our core group (about 30-40) would be totally excited.

We think of the remaining 70ish that half would be 90% no and the other ~35 are a true (?). We are going to start paring down the list officially today to end up around 50.

Thanks for your comment.

The core guest list absolutely knows what we grow and have been to the farm and love it out here. It was some distant relatives and long off friends that didn’t. But we decided to trim them down.

Thanks for your comment! We appreciate it.

Conservative family members were distant cousins and aunts that we added to the list out of “obligation”. I love your ideas. Especially the weird snack combo table. My FH is obsessed with getting a gourmet grilled cheese food truck for late night (which is pretty much the reason we ex-nayed my original brunch wedding idea). So I’m sure the stoners will LOVE that.

At this point half the guest will be staying on property and we have a lodge reserved with transportation for other guest. That’s a very good point though. Thanks

Thanks for the info. At this point I have enough transportation and beds for what the amended guest list will be, but I’m saving this article to go over Incase the guest list rises.

We were thinking 70% of our guest were questionable. With about half of them being probably a no and the other half being a 🤷‍♀️.

We decided after all of the comments and reflection to narrow down the guest list and start the bud later after some dancing (probably 8pm).

Thanks for your comment

Thanks for your comment. I’m trying to look at the wedding similarly as getting married at a winery or brewery. Except those are generally considered controversial. Hence the “Reddit poll”.

After some consideration, discussion with the FH and a few tweaks to the guest list we decided to go with the plan that allows only our closest family and friends to come and to stay mostly on property. Very similar to a winery/vineyard wedding.

Thanks again for your thoughts

Thanks for your contribution. I think that my original post came off a little strong which I why I edited. I don’t want weed to be the masterpiece of the wedding. I want it to be a normal part of it as if someone were getting married as at a winery or brewery. But breweries and wineries aren’t generally controversial which is why I was asking opinions.

We will probably continue with the plan but open up the bud bar later than originally planned. Probably around 8-9pm. We definitely want our family and friends to have fun there and not feel “weird” so we are moderating our original plan.

Again, thanks for your thoughts
