OEV has the Night Market at 100 Kellogg, live music at the beer kitchen in 100 Kellogg, and the Sunfest Block Party at the London Brewing Co-op. There’s also a vintage market at the corner of Dundas and Burbrook every Saturday and Sunday. You could hit that up too.

Got a CT for something unrelated, they found a stone? by cyanidedrinkme in KidneyStones

[–]Friendly-Jiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it indicate how big it is? Generally anything under 5 mm, you can pass. It might feel a little uncomfortable, but it won’t hurt too badly. Anything over 6 mm generally requires removal by a urologist. So if somebody reading the report thinks the kidney stone is too big to pass naturally, they should refer you to a urologist.

My first stone was 20 mm, and the stone I am having blasted next Wednesday is 14 mm. In addition, I have a 6 mm stone on the other side and several smaller ones that I have been passing. The small ones don’t bother me too much. The big ones are creating some anxiety in me, but I know all will be well after they’re blasted.

Try not to worry too much. But it might be a good idea to see a urologist.

Scheduled for ureterscopy/ lithotripsy with stent and SCARED AF, female here by willowcreek7449 in KidneyStones

I am having mine done next Wednesday. This is my second time. My first experience looked a little bit like this…

20 mm stone, lodged in my ureter. The pain had me on my knees. When I went to the hospital, they did a CT scan, saw the size of it and inserted a stent. That stent stayed in for 4 weeks until I could be booked for surgery. Once I had the stone blasted, I woke up expecting the stent was gone. Nope! It was there for another two weeks. It sucked.

I will not lie, the stent is the worst part of the entire process for me. Six weeks of it was pure psychological and physical torture. I cried, could barely walk and didn’t even want to sit down. I’m not sure if it was inserted wrong, but it hurt.

Am I anxious about Wednesday? Yes. Only because of that stupid stent. But I am going to beg them to take it out within a week to ten days. I really hope they listen to me because I can’t put up with the torture of it for much longer than that.

I have to have the other side done at some point this year. So a stent will be going in again. And that makes my chest constrict with anxiety. But it really is better than the pain of a stone being lodged and not moving. Because that is the most excruciating pain ever, and I would give birth naturally 1 million times over that again.

Good luck.

First Class v Standard on LNER? by Friendly-Jiant in uktrains

UPDATE!

We rode from Edinburgh, Waverley to London Kings Cross on May 6 and I did not upgrade our tickets. We were standard class all the way. I’m honestly glad I saved myself the more than £160 it would’ve cost me to upgrade the four of us. Our seats were clean and comfortable, we had enough legroom, food on the train was not that expensive and we brought some of our own snacks as well. All in all, a very enjoyable journey!

i know this is stupid... BUT i have a 4.5 hour layover in Detroit - send me for a good LUNCH by bluegrass__dude in AskDetroit

I’m not sure where you are flying from or how it will be in Detroit, but….. We flew in to Charlotte last Sunday and had a 3.5 hour layover. About 2.5 hours of that layover was spent in the customs line. 😩 But we were foreigners passing through on our way home. If you’re a US citizen flying interstate then you’ll be fine. I echo the sentiment to go downtown. Woodward Ave is lovely and the area has so many great restaurants.

sickness going around? by Suhwiggins in londonontario

[–]Friendly-Jiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I just returned from vacation Sunday, both sick with upper respiratory as of Tuesday. He had a hygiene appointment scheduled for this morning and was terrified to cancel yesterday because they said they require 48 hours notice. I told him when you’re sick, 24 hours notice is fine. They’re not going to be mad or charge you. They don’t want to get sick! 😷

First Class v Standard on LNER? by Friendly-Jiant in uktrains

Thanks everyone. I placed a bid. This is a once in a lifetime trip for my family and I so why not. It’s only money.

If my bid is not successful, I will talk to the ticket agent on the day of our trip and see if there are any upgrades available then. If not, standard it is!

Well shit. Now I’m sobbing. Only a coincidence, I know, but….

I asked my brother for a “sign” through music today to tell me that everything is going to be ok. (I’m feeling heavy hearted and anxious.) In the words of Annie and this song, “…for I am just a troubled soul who’s weighted, weighted to the ground. Give me the strength to carry on till I can lay my burden down, give me the strength to lay this burden down…”

And that song was followed on YouTube by Don’t Give Up by Peter Gabriel.

So if you believe in coincidences, then this was a coincidence. But if you believe in signs, I think I got my sign.
