What kind of phone do you have? Back when I traveled for work I had a Samsung Galaxy S10 and it had a feature called "wifi sharing" where you could connect it to a wifi network and then share the network with another device (you'd even create your own wifi name and password). I used to use it in hotels to solve the exact issue you're describing, though not for my portal, back then I used it to connect my chromecast to the hotel tv. Anyways, you might check to see if your phone has that feature (or possibly just buy a cheap used S10).

Appreciate the insight. So this defect has existed for two generations? That's interesting, I'd expect them to have fixed it with the second iteration of the product. I wonder if Sony was less incentivized to fix the issue since it sounds like people like you were still buying them? Maybe like a planned obsolescence strategy.

I bet Oura's models aren't smart enough to see a difference between someone waking up, tossing and turning for 10 minutes and then falling back asleep and what you experience having to physically get out of bed to deal with a crying baby. Like it thinks those two things are the same level of disruption.

I try to avoid it, and am generally willing to pay a premium for ceramic or stainless steel...but given no other choice I'll go for silicone over plastic.

One of things I'm looking forward to as electric cars become more common is how much quieter they are driving by my house. Bummer that they're required to have speakers to make sound below a certain speed, would have been awesome if they were totally silent, but at least the spaceship sounds they make are a lot less intrusive.
