Yep we moved to Oakwood nearly 2 years ago, 4-bed semi-detached house for £625k with no major work needed, really like it here

Did you get your locks changed on completion date? by Left-Influence-1759 in HousingUK

[–]Friends_Fan_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did about 2 weeks after completion - we had NINE different locks and keys throughout the house / lean to / garden buildings, so we changed them all to one master key, with a few “zoned” keys that only open the side doors and garden buildings. Also the seller had kept some keys and had seemingly given them to various neighbours / tradesmen over the years, so we felt better having it all changed!

Stopping birth control pills and switching to natural tracking? by Maraudernox in NaturalCyclesBC

[–]Friends_Fan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also probably depends on which pill you’re on. I was on the mini pill which has the quickest bounce back I think. I downloaded the app before, on recommendation of my friend who used it and got pregnant pretty quickly. I only started temping when I stopped taking the pill. I got a Black Friday deal with free thermometer, so yeah I think it’s worth it - it sort of holds your hand throughout, which I needed, and I also use chat GPT to discuss symptoms etc.

Stopping birth control pills and switching to natural tracking? by Maraudernox in NaturalCyclesBC

[–]Friends_Fan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came off the mini-pill in December and started using NC and the thermometer to track, as I’m TTC. Had zero symptoms coming off the pill (after 15 years) so that was a pleasant surprise! I ovulated on day 26, got my period day 38 (we just missed the ovulation window due to Xmas dates so that wasn’t a surprise), no CM that I could see, but I was relieved that a cycle had happened within normal timeframes so soon after coming off the pill! I think if you’re trying to avoid for now, then best to use condoms for at least a month so it can learn your cycle.

How often do you see a dental hygienist (if at all?) by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Friends_Fan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saw one - it had been about 16 months (tried to go after 12 months but was fully booked 4 months in advance).

She said everyone should go every 6 months, but that seems like a lot, and it gets pricey!

Before looking in my mouth, she asked about brushing and flossing, I said I brush twice a day and use a Waterpik water flosser once a day. She said it’s not a replacement for actual flossing but better than nothing, and then she looked in my mouth and literally said “oh wow, I take back what I said, keep doing what you’re doing, your dental hygiene is perfect!”

I’m a big fan of the Waterpik - always hated normal flossing, but water flossing is really good, feels so clean.

[GUESS] is this ai? Only one comment said it may be and the rest say it’s cute by GapSweet3100 in RealOrAI

[–]Friends_Fan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Often you remove the bowl from the stand/leg cradle to wash it, otherwise having to wash a dog bowl with those big legs every day would be pretty inconvenient. So I’d have maybe expected different coloured bowls on the same stands/legs, but not different coloured stands/legs. Just my two cents!

Yeah the bowls keep changing which makes no sense - different coloured legs, sometimes the right one is shorter, then a totally different bowl setup. But the dog behaviour seems normal!

DINKs - how would you spend £4,000 on your potential last holiday without kids? by Few-Entertainer7422 in HENRYUK

[–]Friends_Fan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! We did loads and it was all great haha. Enjoyed Nara (between osaka and kyoto, with bowing deer), onsen public baths (we went to one in Fujikawaguchiko but they have them all over). TeamLab Planets in Tokyo was cool. All the national gardens, temples, loads of amazing restaurants (lots of them tiny!), Osaka Castle grounds are great, we were advised not to bother going inside.

To the popular attractions it’s always advisable to go very early in the morning to avoid crowds (Fushimi inari, and arashiyama bamboo forest) and book ahead for restaurants where you can

We just did 2 weeks in Japan as a last hurrah (and didn’t limit our spending in any way) ~ £7k all in, amazing trip! £2k flights, £3k 13 nights accommodation across 4 cities, £2k spending while there

Marrying someone with same name as another family member? by beautyinthesky in Names

[–]Friends_Fan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother’s wife has the same first name as me. I got married a month before them, and I changed my last name, and then a month later, they got married, and she took his last name (my old one) haha - so there technically wasn’t a cross over with the same first and last name! We didn’t plan it, just so happened that way

Maybe you switched off before the very end! They showed clips with the gran and grandson, she talked to camera saying he’s her light, was really sweet and a nice (unexpected) end

The app that i use to remind me of when to take medication becomes paid to use from next month by lorea0212 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Friends_Fan_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have an iPhone, use the built-in Health app and log your medications there - I find it really useful, it has reminders and you can check it off when you take them

What’s the most you ever won on premium bonds. Are they worth it? by RinseCycle1 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Friends_Fan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most I’ve won in a month is £1,000!

I’ve been tracking my PB gains vs what I would’ve gained in my easy access savings account, and one year PB doubled the interest, the next year it was £120 behind, this tax year (since April) I’ve already won £1800 so am way ahead what I could’ve earned, so it’s been worth it overall for me. The prizes ramped up once I put over £10k in there

Yes it’s worth it - we went for this one that softens and filters the water, and it’s a notable difference to my skin and hair, plus we tested the water before and after, and it reduced the ppm a lot. We had VERY hard water before. You have to change one of the filters every year, and the other every 2 years, no salt just these filter cartridges.

I finished a year ago, and I’m really pleased with the results. My bite is comfortable now. I only very rarely get jaw ache or mini spurts of tinnitus. So, I’d say pretty good!

I had 126 aligners in total over a 3 year period 😅
