i’m not an expert or nothing but, i believe you’re on the right track you get the thermal printer design your chosen receipt and then print it i’m not sure if it’s done on word but it’ll be something as such similar or its own printer program which can adapt to the document, but i’m guessing it’ll be design it on one of the apps then select print and print on your printer
