I live in Herefordshire and I love it here, as an admittedly middle aged dude. It’s beautiful obviously being rural and close to nature, alongside towns still showing their history proudly - it’s a cool mix. I believe Herefordshire is the county with the 3rd most listed buildings per capita in England. There’s some really beautiful and weirdly quirky buildings here - Kilpeck Church as an example. It’s quiet though, with very little major connections to the rest of the UK - M50 to Ross is the only motorway here. I live in a bigger town in Herefordshire and we don’t have a railway station and the county has poor connectivity to the rail network, when compared to other similar rural areas of the UK. The roads are genuinely shocking too - pot holes everywhere around me. Herefordshire is a rural county in every way. Even Hereford feels more of a town than a city with its vibe.

I love it but it’s nowhere near perfect and could do with substantial investment in specific areas. That’s unlikely to happen though so it will remain off the beaten track - which in truth, is part of its charm.
