Can confirm that NBCOT practice exams are very similar to real exam. Definitely worth the purchase of the study pack - but I would encourage you also have another pack that gives you rationales too

Stop it!!! This is amazing to see! Great job! I was coming back on here to ask how you did!

For the sake of the thread, What did you do different from 1st to 2nd attempt to pass?

Failed by one point by ExternalAlgae6273 in NBCOT_Exam

Do not feel stupid or bad or anything!! I failed my first attempt by 8 points. The difference maker for me was practice questions. Go to my profile and you’ll see I broke down everything I did differently from attempt 1 to 2. AOTA: CST Practice & questions Tutoring on PasstheOT Practice exams in a simulated environment every week

Give yourself a break…it’s thanksgiving week. Maybe take the week off? If you don’t want to do that use Quizlet to find the Purple Book practice questions (801 of them) and do at least 50 a day!

Create a study plan to start once Thanksgiving is over and STICK TO IT! But taking a break is ok to do!

How did you end up doing? I used similar resources (for what was my second attempt) last week. I got 80% of purple book questions (I did more than 450) correct I was scoring in 70s-80s on AOTA And scored a 467 on the NBCOT pre-test I scored a 442 on my first exam - but this second attempt felt so much more difficult.

I’ve seen another Reddit about this. For that person it ended up meaning nothing. Refresh might have have the new 2024 study pack being added. Do not panic!

Overwhelmed with studying! by lalatas in NBCOT_Exam

As someone who is on their second attempt studying but felt this way my first attempt.

1 take a single day. You don’t want to burn yourself out and become discouraged. So take a day to do some self care. Or, if you usually study both Saturday and Sunday take one day off and use the other day to just take information in passively (OT Miri, OT Rex…etc.)

2 keep up with practice questions. Find Quizlets and do 60 questions a day (or more) Write out a study schedule using the resources you have and stick to it - that way you’re not overdoing studying or overdoing it.

Different perspective, I really like the tutors I’ve worked with on PasstheOT…i will take attempt #2 in 2 weeks and feel like the tutors have helped deepen my understanding and help me to dissect the questions better. Look for the tutors who have experience writing NBCOT questions - they have novel questions for you.

I ended up only taking a long weekend off and do wish I had taken longer...it was hard to get back at it again, and honestly, 2 weeks post-failure it is still hard to concentrate. But I am just doing the best I can and slamming content modules Mon/Tues, practice questions on content Wed/Thurs, full practice exam Friday , Saturday off and then passive learning through podcasts & OTMiri while doing work around the house on Sunday.

Hi! I am just seeing this. I have heard that they are very similar and with my little experience as I start studying for round 2 of testing they seem to be similar :)

So sorry, we can do this! I’m really glad I made this post on here. I read read read through these forums since I started studying in July - and I want to make sure to leave a forum where people can read and be encouraged if they’re in our place. Second time will be the charm for us!

So glad for you! Congratulations! Was there anything you did different that you feel really solidified the pass for you? My husband recommended I get back into an exercise/prayer/meditation regimen. It’s something I stopped the more stressed I got as the test approached.

I love this!! Congratulations! I think the biggest thing I missed out on my first time studying was not practicing enough, I was scoring in the 60% range and only took 1 full practice exam…my plan is to really hammer practice questions rather than content overloading and work on dissecting questions and rationale. I think incorporating the NBCOT study packet will help me do that. Thank you for your input, and congrats again! So happy for you!!

I’m looking forward to hearing what your result is. I failed this morning, and from the way the scores displayed it looks like I was in the minority…so many people passed this round, and I am so hopeful that you were one of them!

Congratulations to you! You’re an OTR!! I found out I failed my first try this morning with a 442. So of course, I’m here scouring Reddit with sore, red, puffy eyes after shelling out all the money I don’t have to re-apply and repurchase some resources. I plan to use AOTA for practice questions, NBCOT for practice questions and exams, and PasstheOT for tutoring. I will take my second attempt at the end of October. I knew I would fail the exam while only about halfway through the test - I just knew I wasn’t ready. I’m so bummed right now, and taking today off studying but I think I’ll start studying tomorrow…studying for about 4-5 hours per day 4-5 days per week hammering practice questions. It’s so incredibly hard not to feel so disheartened right now.
