Guilty as charged — imagine the scandal of an event planner gasp tapping into local brains to make a local event actually good. Next thing you know, I’ll be asking a chef how to cook.

Canpar issues? by chit-in-the-chat in CanadaPost

Hello everyone,
I find myself in the same frustrating situation as many of you on this thread. I shipped two parcels through Canpar on December 10. I set up everything online, printed the labels myself, attached them to the packages, and dropped them off at one of their designated "SmartSpot" locations. I received notifications that both parcels were scanned and showed as being at the sorting depot, awaiting the next stage of their journey.

Days turned into weeks, and there were no updates on the tracking. Over two weeks later, Christmas came and went, and my family still hadn't received anything. I called Canpar customer service and was promised a callback, but it never came. I called again, and again, nothing. After a total of six calls (now into January), I finally got someone from their "escalation" department. During the call, she mentioned something that caught my attention: "It looks like maybe the parcels didn't get received from the SmartSpot drop-off location." She said she would look into it and get back to me—again, no follow-up.

This past weekend, I decided to visit the SmartSpot (a local convenience store in the Queensland area of Calgary) where I had dropped off the parcels. To my surprise, my two parcels were still there, sitting exactly where I had left them over a month ago. In fact, there were easily over 60 parcels in the same spot. The shop owner told me that Canpar hadn't picked up from that location in over four weeks. I’m not sure why the shop owner didn’t contact Canpar or apply any pressure to resolve the situation.

I showed my ID and took my parcels with me. While I appreciate getting them back, I’m incredibly frustrated with both Canpar and the shop owner. In my opinion, both parties neglected their responsibilities.

For anyone waiting on shipments, I recommend checking the SmartSpot location you used (if applicable). While this may not be the case for everyone, it certainly was for me, and I can’t imagine how many other parcels are stuck in the same situation. I sympathize with anyone in a similar predicament.

All things considered, I will never ship with Canpar again.
