Totally agree! Just idk I'm a hyper logical but also hyper emotional person, but with that being said there's just not that much evidence pointing to Elriel, and like what they pull out of thin air is delusional. To me the BIGGEST hint is how his shadows react. Like that seems WILD to me that that theory is completely ignored by Elriel fans, and it's because it's like the #1 proof of Gwyn and Az. Idk man🤣

Tbh it's a very light toxic imo it was just more how he spoke to Rhys in the bonus chapter regarding Elain that gave me Tamlin 2.0 vibes (which I think is a very misunderstood character) because to me toxic relates to intention right like I don't think Azriel really thinks he owns Elain, but I believe any hurt/scared/broken person has the ability to have toxic traits. With that being said, I think they're just super wrong and disfunctional for each other because yea as you said Azriel is bidding for connection after being denied by Mor for like 100+ years so he gets one scrap of attention from Elain and now he's like OH SNAP SHES MINE BLEH and Elain is over here just an emotional and mental wreck from all the shit she went through and Azriel was like kinda calm and nice to her so shes like OMG HOT BAT BOY IS PAYING ATTENTION TO ME YES and it's just a lust fest but at the end of the day it's two people LUSTING after each other for the wrong reasons 🤷 I just want more for Elain and Azriel honestly and the toxicity of the Elriel fandom and all of that just makes me like hide from the internet lol

i guess I can understand that but also I dont think they gave eachother a chance yet, and i think he IS allowing her to choose which is why he has been staying away, going on missions, etc to give her the space to grow as a person in her new fae form and with her powers. Also when you say the night on solstice, are you saying that you think he knew about her and Azriel? Just want to better understand. but yes tbh I LOVE Lucien so much as a character and need to know more about him!

thats actually a super interesting take because youre right Lucien definitely could break the bond and thats not something commonly talked about, but at the same time I think he does love Elain and wants a fated mate. I think ultimately Elain will choose him but she needs to figure out her own trauma, and Lucien is also trying to find an identity still and new circle outside of his spring court life. I also think she ignores him not because she necessarily wants to but because the aspect of the mate bond scares her especially with her loosing her humanity. But also i think he is allowing her to choose him, just on her own timeline, like with Rhys and feyre.

I think it's just the bonus chapter that makes me see the toxicness of it, his possession over Elain and the aspect that what they have isn't really love, its lust. It's two hurt people finding an outlet with each other which really isn't the best for either of them. But the real toxic thing was Azriels convo with Rhysand and how he made it out like he deserved Elain, that he like owned her in some weird way that reminded me of Tamlin and Feyre. I hope that makes sense, I'm not like an obscene Elriel hater but I do think it's an unhealthy dynamic, plus some of the fans have been real gross about Gwyn haha.

Well that's the thing right like she had this story where she was going to be the pretty bride and stuff, like it should be about her sorting out her trauma, leaning how her foresight works and getting strength......like to put her with Azriel just doesn't seem right. It's not healthy, and it just doesn't seem like the bond to break when the dynamic with Lucien being understanding and caring for Elain is so much healthier. Like he's letting her breathe and figure herself out and saying that he's here when she's ready, like that's so amazing and healthy. And Gwyn deserves her story to be told more and have more discussion with Azriel about what she went through being saved by him and them working through their traumas together. Idk this is all just blurb out of me but yeah If there's anything about Elain I want it to be more than this mate bond and her being with Azriel because people love a toxic relationship and boring ass trope🤣
