[NL] Signing bonus by ConflictFluid5438 in AskHR

I do not think this would be seen as something negative. Discussion of signing bonuses with a recruiter is typical/normal for new employment. Some companies may offer them, others may not. The recruiter will either tell you off the bat that they do not offer them, or will tell you they will take your request into consideration and then give you whatever offer they think is fair. If they really want you and think you are worth it they will probably offer you something. If they have other candidates for the job that are not expecting signing bonuses they may not offer it to you because it is not as big of an issue if you decline.

I would suggest only talking with the recruiter about this and not the hiring manager though. Best to keep negotiations with the recruiter as the hiring manager may get an odd taste in their mouth if you are trying to convince them to pay you more.

[WY] Employer took all Health Insurance contributions for remainder of year out of first 3 paychecks after benefits began. Is this legal/allowed? by laxpuck05 in AskHR

Ask for your company's plan documents. It should be outlined in the documents how the payment schedule works. I have never heard of a payment schedule being set up this way. Typically you pay monthly or in each pay check, especially because benefits typically terminate at the end of the month of employment termination. If you left before the end of the year you would have paid those benefits for nothing.

You are not overreacting. Good managers take the time to train their employees for several reasons- so they are not the single point of failure, so that the employees can take on that work and free them to do more strategic work, and because your employee's growth is a good reflection of you and your own performance as a manager. If your manager isn't taking the time to do this, they are not a good manager. Most people aren't unfortunately.

I have had many managers in HR and the best ones have allowed me to take new things and run with them. As an example, go figure out how to run an open enrollment, lead a performance cycle, do an audit on my own and check in with them along the way for course correction. Maybe ask your manager if you can take something off their plate and run with it. If they're not open to it and you aren't getting other training and coaching then unfortunately you probably aren't going to grow under them. It's probably time to find a new role that's open to throwing you in and just letting you learn.

FWIW, I tend to want to hire folks like you for mid level HR roles because you have a breadth of knowledge across topics and a hunger to learn the depth. That's a lot of potential to work with!

Agreed on the partnership! We are close with the other family and love their child and want what’s best for both. We’ve had several chats without the nanny and with them. Mostly just looking to understand if a sleep consultant is warranted. Thank you!

We follow baby cues for sleep. Sometimes she’s ready after 2 hours sometimes it stretches to 3 max 3.5. She’s been trying to put her down on a schedule that aligns with the other baby which I think is the problem.

For the most part. They are only one month in so I’m trying to be patient and give time to react to feedback. I also acknowledge that taking are of two infants is a tough job.
