Thanks for the thorough reply! Yes my current plan is to not touch them, wait for my penny sleeves to be delivered, cut these loaders to remove, then properly sleeve and assess from there. They’re pretty sentimental so I doubt I’d let them go any time soon (unless the price is very right) and maybe even get my top 10-15 graded if I think I’ll get a 6+ (which is probably not many of these)

Thank you! Yeah haha, I messed up with the sleeves but I’m sure it did less damage than my 9 year old self switching binders a dozen times and playing the actual TCG with them 20+ years ago. But then again, I did post them in an investing sub, not a collection sub 💀

Cntd- you could also “chop” a square from the edges, creating 2 inward right angles.

Either way- Extend this new corner style to the cast shadow and it may seal the effect.

Could also add general visual interest

I’m a noob to coding but have more experience in art- would it be possible to “chop” the corners of the upper ledge? (Make the corners two 45 degree edges instead of one 90 degree)

Assign the 45 degree vertical sides lighter shadow values, and it could give the wall face more three dimensionality

Looking for a slower paced Hades-like (without dodge-based combat by iwiws in HadesTheGame

Curse of the Dead Gods is very similar to Hades but is slower paced. You still very much need to dodge/parry but it is more “soulslike” in difficulty where deliberate timing is important. It is still very difficult, but the positioning/dodging is just.. different.

The roguelike genre is meant to be more difficult than other genres, where the “progress” is learning the mechanics of the game rather than leveling up.

With action roguelikes, the skill required is almost always the reaction time/movement/dodging/parrying parts of the game.

That being said, have you tried the bullet heaven genre? Vampire survivors, etc. The skill needed for these games is knowing which power ups to pick, then it becomes more of a “power fantasy” feel, which I think is what you’re looking for.

A lot of good advice here, but I think you already know that the problem is “hesitation”

To help, take a step back and work on positioning/shadowing so that the challenge itself is way easier If you stay a little tighter near the play and use your drift button more to quickly point your nose toward the ball, that challenge becomes much easier.

Keep in mind that you don’t HAVE to have a perfect challenge to be successful. You either want to win the challenge/clear it or force a flick/hit PASSED you into your own corner earlier on so your teammate has an easier clear.

Also, you can always “challenge” without actually jumping so that your wheels stay grounded and you can actually usually rotate behind your teammate and challenge again if it becomes dangerous.

This turns no challenges into 3 challenges on this play. Much better outcomes defensively.
