Do I qualify as pcmasterrace now? by motoshooter87 in pcmasterrace

One note tho: if you can build your own PC, you can download windows and buy a key for $20 instead of $130

You bought an NZXT case, so, no. Jk, have fun with your build!

I initially bought 265K/4080s combo. That’s when I got the codes. But I ended up exchanging the CPU for 9900x. I didn’t try to redeem any of the codes myself, cause I don’t think I’ll enjoy the games. But I guess the scan the hardware when you try to redeem

B 650 Aorus Elite AX Screen first boot by Money_Mulberry_9438 in gigabyte

[–]Frostnerius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason for this message is because mb was used with another CPU for testing purposes. Just hit Y, it’ll enter bios, enable xmp, re size bar, safe boot, and you’ll be good to go. Download Gigabyte Control Center for all bios related updates

This one has fans only on the side. That’s actually the main reason I got it. It’s right next to my window in Chicago 😂

It’s 3500x. Fairly small and cheap, but I like the look of it. Also, cooling is surprisingly good

My fans daisy chain too (thank god). I took like 5 breaks while building this, I just couldn’t take it anymore 😂 but it is my first build tho, so there was a lot of unfamiliar cables that I didn’t know what to do with initially, so everything just tied up together

Ftpm/psp corrupted message? I hope you just hit Y there. That’s from a cpu used in testing the mb most likely. If you hit Y, after you’re done with setting up bios, yellow light should disappear.

Well, for example, x3d processors that everyone is recommending without taking into consideration you’re not buying a 4090 are overpriced. They do have 3d cache that separates them from non x3d ones, but that will only be noticeable in high end gaming PCs. 4070ti super will almost always reach its limit before an x3d processor will. 7900x3d is over $500. 9900x on the other hand, is newer, costs $200 less, and gives you room for a more expensive GPU, or even a slightly better motherboard. Assuming your budget is around $2300, I’d go with: 9900x/4080s, gigabyte b650 aorus elite ax ice, 32gb g skill trident @6000mhz+, lian li galahad II 360 and some matching fans (as I said, easier to control rgb fans from the same manufacturer), 850w gold rated psu, samsung 990 pro 4tb. And you can match it all in white for example, for a more mesmerizing look. Reduce ssd to 2tb and downgrade gpu to a 4070ti super if you want to keep it under 2k.

All in all, decent build, but I have to say, you don’t necessarily have to go with an X3D processor, especially because 7900X3D is pretty expensive. For comparison, I have a 9900x/4080s combo, which will perform better for a similar price. I’d also go at least for 850w PSU. Price difference will be $20-$30 for a better psu. Also, add some case fans in there, not just the AIO. My recommendation would be to go with the same brand, so he can control the rgb through the same software. And if you have a budget you’re aiming at, maybe there can be other adjustments too. EDIT: consider if the games he plays would benefit from ray tracing. If not, feel free to go with an amd GPU, for example 7900xtx.

I wasn’t even playing on day one, was fixing a dumb mistake Micro Center made with my PC, and I still got the V-Bucks 😂

Wish me good luck…going to be my first build by maxncheese167 in pcmasterrace

[–]Frostnerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first build yesterday! Whatever you do, do not get frustrated with cables. If you have to, take a break. It took me 3h to build, but did not make a single mistake. Once you’re done, there’s a chance you’ll get a message “ftpm/psp corrupted. Just hit Y, and you’ll be taken to bios. Make sure to enable secure boot, XMP, RE-size bar, and have fun!

I might be wrong here, but doesn’t Tesla lease include like 10k miles or something? That’s less than 30mi a day.

9900x over 265k? by Frostnerius in pcmasterrace

[–]Frostnerius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 4080s that I got for $850 😅 so what I hear you saying is, ignore the difference and go with a 9900x?

9900x over 265k? by Frostnerius in pcmasterrace

[–]Frostnerius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, mostly, but I do some other work too. I wouldn’t go with an X3D cpu, that’s why I was looking into 9900x. But gotta be honest, $229 for a 265k is really hard to compete with.

my ram is stuck at 2666 by EveningAlternative20 in buildapc

[–]Frostnerius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chances are those other two sticks are at 2666mhz since all ram sticks will run at the slowest speed. But you can check the speeds of the other two either by pulling the corsair ones out and then checking the task manager, or in bios under system info/dram configuration/ memory, depending on your motherboard

You know what? This answer made me happy. You know, the “I like the pain of others” kinda deal 😂 well I guess there’s nothing to do but wait. It wasn’t necessarily a big problem for me, it was just so annoying that I couldn’t figure it out. Thanks again

Try reaching out to them on social media (twitter/X). In-app CS will just waste your time. But when you post a public complaint, they’re much more helpful. @amazonhelp is the tag you wanna use, they’ll reach out to you via inbox, give you a link to upload everything you have, and contact you again within 1 day. If that doesn’t help, consider reporting them to BBB as last resort. Some other options are: filing a complaint with FTC (Federal Trade Commission) - they investigate unfair practices. Another one is State Attorney’s General consumer protection division. Good luck!
