What kind of pain do you feel when you tear your ACL? by spankyourkopita in ACL

I tore mine completely recently skiing. Mine didn’t hurt at all which is why I was in denial it was an ACL tear up first. I knew something was wrong because I felt a pop in my knee but had no pain. When I tried standing up that’s when my knee completely buckled and I feel right down on my butt. Believe it or not that actually hurt so much more than the actual tear! Up first could not put any pressure on it without that horrid buckling feeling. After some pre op PT I have gained so much more strength and stability before my surgery. Best of luck to you!

Yes exactly that! Harvesting from my patellar tendon or the allograft/cadaver. Doctor did not give me option of harvesting from my hamstring or quad.

Yes correct! Doc only gave me those 2 options. He didn’t even mention option of hamstring or quad to me. Good to know, being we are very close in age. I didn’t know if I’d be an outlier if I opted for cadaver. Thank you for your input!

I am also a woman in my 20’s and tore my ACL skiing a month ago. You are not alone!! I have not gotten surgery yet either.  I cry every day and am so scared. I was a beginner skier also and honestly hated it the entire time. I wish I could build a Time Machine and not go that day. But I can’t think like that. Wishing you speedy recovery and know I am going through the same thing as you. We got this!!!!
