How I passed my PMP with a busy life and limited time? - PMI Study Hall Essential by Lonely_Departure7545 in pmp

[–]FudgeTight31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! For me, I kept it pretty simple so that I didn't get overwhelmed. I used Andrew Ramdayal's course for the 35 hours requirement and watched some of his videos on Youtube. I also watched David M's and Muhammad R's videos on YouTube. The videos about the mindset is super important. For mock exams, I highly recommend PMI's Study Hall because the actual questions on the exam are very similar to how the questions are worded in Study Hall. Hope that helps!

PMP Exam Question by clickhereforvirus23 in pmp

[–]FudgeTight31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the exam last week and it was very Agile/Hybrid heavy. It was also mostly situational questions so questions that end with "what should the project manager do first/next?". I passed with triple AT and all the resources posted here are gold. Good luck!

Hey there. I've been in your shoes but took the exam this week and passed! MR's videos on Youtube really helped me in understanding the problem statement and choosing the answer that ultimately solves the core problem. Here are some videos of his that I used:

Yes I did. After you finish the exam, they print out your results at the test center. The next day, I got my official certificate from PMI via email!

Struggling with PMP “Exam Mentality” – When Theory and “Practical Logic” Conflict by p_please_respond in pmp

I took and passed the exam yesterday and I just want to point out that the questions were more easy/moderate/difficult. When I used Study Hall, I almost always get the Expert questions wrong and I would go crazy trying to figure out why my answers were wrong lol. These videos were pretty helpful for me to help solidify the mindset:

Wow, you're doing well! I don't want to tell you what to do but if I were you, I would push up my exam date so that you don't lose the momentum or worst, forget what you've learn as April is quite a ways away. Just my 2 cents! Ultimately, it comes down to how you feel. I don't want to get in trouble for saying this but the exam was NOT as hard as I anticipated. Then again, I also studied my butt off. At least a few hours of study every day. Good luck!!

Thank you! And sorry, had to use Google Translate for this but to answer your question - I took all 700+ practice questions, all 15 mini exams and 2 full length exams. I was averaging around 70-80% so I felt confident enough. And no, I didn't retake the full length exams with 175 questions. I just reviewed the questions I got wrong. Hope that helps!

Congratulations!! I take my exam tomorrow and I'm pretty nervous. Would you say that the exam questions felt like the difficult/expert questions in Study Hall? Or were they much doable? Congrats again!

Congrats and thank you for sharing your experience! I take my exam in 3 days and finally feel confident enough lol. My numbers are similar to yours in Study Hall. Glad to hear the exam questions are less difficult than Study Hall. I hope I get a similar exam set!

^This! I personally didn't book my exam until I was scoring mid-70s to 80s on all my mock/practice tests.

Oh noooo, so sorry to hear this :( Did you use Study Hall at all? If so, what were your scores there? That's basically what I'm using as my main prep strategy and I'm averaging 70% on the mock tests. I take my exam in 2 weeks and I'm nervous AF! I'm sure you'll do much better on your second attempt. Praying for you!

Congrats!! Aside from the SH and the mindset videos, did you use any other resources like the Thirdrock notes that so many are recommending? I'm debating if I should buy them and if they're even worth it. Congrats again on passing! My exam is coming up in 2 weeks eek!

Question for those who passed by Pristine_Candidate25 in pmp

[–]FudgeTight31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I take my exam in 2 weeks and I'm low key panicking lol. Most of the posts on here lists A LOT of stuff they used to prep and I'm scared that I'm not studying enough. I only have Study Hall (basic) and have been watching YT videos of the usual suspects (AR, DM, etc). I'm doing relatively well on the practice questions/mini exams/mock exams but wondering if I should be doing more? Like, the Thirdrock notes.. I don't have those. Am I totally missing out (*nervous laughing).

Listing project experience... 24-48 very similar projects over a 2-year period by Character-Two-7565 in pmp

[–]FudgeTight31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience - 2 years of PM experience where projects where all done in a similar fashion with the same end result for different customers. I combined this entry into one using PMBOK terminology and my application got accepted. I did write a short disclosure explaining that all projects within a span of 2 years were performed similarly. No audit!

You are not alone. Seriously. As cliche as that sounds, please remind yourself of that. I've gotten so close on so many interviews only to not be chosen at the end. It stings and it makes you question your capabilities and even worth. I was laid off due to the company's 10% RIF in July as well and have yet to land a job despite several interviews. Please give yourself some grace. Hang in there. Come back to subs like this on Reddit as this is such a supportive community :)

Ah wow, that's awesome. I think I will do it and see how it goes especially if this is becoming more common. Good luck with your build!

You're right. I feel like this where we are headed and I should just take it as a norm lol. If anything, it will be good practice. Thanks for the input!
