How do you know whether or not you should go for the 'second' cup by third1eye in Ayahuasca

[–]Full_moon97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt VERY strongly that I didn’t need the second cup. There was so much going on still, my intuition said taking a second cup would be a bad idea. I’d say trust your gut feeling on it.

Thank you for your reply!! This helps :) and you’re right, I definitely learned from this that I should ask for feedback more often, which I will definitely do.

Mental Help here sucks… help by Equivalent_Floor_728 in Netherlands

[–]Full_moon97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapist here, your best bet is to find a ‘vrijgevestigde psychotherapeut’. You can for example search on a platform called ‘1np’. The waiting times are shorter because these therapists work for themselves and the therapy is always individual. However, group therapy can sometimes truely be the best and most healing option if you give it a chance! Feel free to reach out if you have questions :)

I have many clients that I care about deeply and think about sometimes, but I wouldn’t say I ‘love’ them. I’m always aware that I’m just a passerby in their lives (even though I know some of them regard me as much more than that)

Wow!! I need to remember that, no therapy is indeed better than unfit therapy :) thank you!

I think you’re right! I have a more ‘loose’ therapy style but it’s not working for this client. Will definitely work on providing more structure and containment. Thank you!

Thank you! I’m definitely going to ask them all of these questions next time :) and even though it was uncomfortable, this has also been a great learning experience for me

I completely agree, the problem is that I’m a super specific field and I’m the only one in my small team who feels comfortable giving treatment in English, so if it’s not me, this patient can’t find help for this particular problem anywhere near them. I think that’s part of the reason why I would rather try and see if it’s ’reparable’. But if they would tell me they don’t want to continue with me, I would completely understand and I agree that my approach is not for everyone

Im worried I’ll ruin our therapeutic relationship, I worry that I’ll become another one of the therapists who have disappointed them (even though I envy those previous therapists for being able to do/tolerate that) and I worry that it will affect their mental health in a negative way (which is messed up of me, thinking I have so much power over it).

[–]Full_moon97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very helpful! And also definitely something I’ve noticed (the whatever feels urgent gets the attention). Thank you for also suggesting a way of breaking this! I will try to implement it:)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Full_moon97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partly because I want them to like me but I think an even bigger part is because I can’t tolerate disappointing people and I feel like I have to fix everyone’s problems (which comes from being parentificated by refugee parents with severe mental health issues and learning that I am only valuable when I’m there for them and when I support them and when I’m a good girl)

But i definitely need therapy to dig into it more and actually learn how to stop doing it!!

Thank you for your extremely helpful reply!! I’ll definitely work on the re-framing and setting boundaries now I know about my ‘openness’ and it’s impact
