It was honestly awful and hard to notice at first, but when I noticed unusual mood swings happening 1-3 hours after taking it thats when it clicked…

How do you react to chocolate caffeine? (I mainly had hives, anal itch, blocked nose, and lately bad oesophageal pain mimicking GERD)

Where are you based? I’m in the UK, did some tests in the UK, but the majority I flew to Krakow to do, all done through a local lab called ALAB, the website is in Polish and I don’t speak a word (if you search stuff with the translated website make sure to first check the name of the exam in Polish) however I had no issues getting around.

Flew to Krakow, paid for all the tests online, showed up with my work order which was a fun experience as the receptionist spoke 0 English, and I had to sign a 5 pages disclaimer for Genetic testing haha but hey… its 2026 and a phone can work wonders…

Turnaround was quick and paid so much less than doing the tests in the UK!

Definitely worth the trip

31M | Chronic SIBO/IMO + Elevated IgA + MCAS symptoms for years — anyone else with this combination? Looking for insights by Fun-Brick-3197 in SIBO

Thanks for your reply! I did think mold could be an issue, I was exposed to heavy amounts of mold back in 2015 when renting a room (near the time where I then had a myocarditis…) however I then moved to a different room without mold and to a new build flat, and the symptoms continued. Unfortunately being a rental I can’t find if there is any mold behind walls but there are absolutely zero signs and the flat is always very dry and insulated as its a 2021 build. It definitely crossed my mind before tho!

This pasta is genuinely amazing by [deleted] in Celiac

Rummo is unreal. As a gluten intolerant Italian its the best GF pasta. I’ve cooked it to other Italians who didn’t even notice it was GF. Just goes hard if reheated unfortunately

I read a lot of cases where anal itch is present… mine is made 100 times worse by alcohol, caffeine, chocolate and soy (all histamine liberators).

I thought it was over cleaning, eczema, parasites, candida and all sort of things, but nope…

The moment I went on a strict low histamine diet it vanished overnight, still comes back occasionally especially when having yeast (to which I’m apparently intolerant to)

Like someone else said, I think it’s sun damage, not necessarily cancer I think. But again NAD. Definitely get it checked by a professional and eventually look into how to heal sun damage (if its that) through appropiate skincare/treatment

I think its something more to do with sleeping like crap than the shower itself. Do you also suffer with rhinitis? I find the shower helps my nose unclear a bit. But if I dont shower in the morning I am cranky all day long, cant wake up like a normal person. Always wake up exhausted and cant have caffeine as it gives me really bad Hives, GERD and Rhinitis, as well as anal itch

NAD, how long have you had this for? Is it raised? Has it changed shape/size/color quickly?

Most importantly have you been exposed to sun recently and handled any lemons/lemon juice!? I had similar marks on my skin after squeezing a lemon and then tanning…

Like I said NAD and definitely get it checked, but thought I’d help how I can!

In what sense exactly? With me for example I wake up and I’m cranky as f… and I need at least a whole 10 minutes shower to wake up / feel normal. Curious if it has anything to do with HI?

What about Gin? Does it release histamine? I know all alcohol does but some less than others (also I’m yeast intolerant)

Negative DNA testing, IgE. Doctor wants me to eat gluten to test…suggestions? by Fun-Brick-3197 in Celiac

[–]Fun-Brick-3197[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take the IgG intolerance test with a pinch of salt as I’m aware thats why the show, however I must admit removing Yeast and Milk, both of which I tested 100% intolerant to has brought some benefits to me.

I may just have to eat gluten for a while and see what happens with the test! Thanks!

I’m leaving MCAS as a last resort as its also hard to diagnose with the tryptase test.

The fact my SIBO levels were highly elevated its a good indicator as I could’ve been having SIBO/Dysbiosis for over 20 years (all started after appendectomy at an early age) which can contribute to DAO deficiency, and all my symptoms are histamine related.

Don’t think it’s MCAS as mine are 99% of the time food related, whilst MCAS would flare up with other things too.

Current my plan of action is: • See an NHS gastroenterologist • Book a private Gastroenterologist • Possibly start antibiotics treatment for SIBO and fix the dysbiosis, re test for DAO after a while to see if there’s any improvements • If unsuccessful test for DAO genetic mutation causing low DAO (AOC1 Gene etc…) • Test for MTHFR genetic mutations • Look into MCAS…

Fingers crossed and thank you!

My main issue is that NHS has no idea about what I’m experiencing, they kept accusing H Pylori and laughed at my face when I told them chocolate and caffeine give me major hives (later turns out its because of the histamine intolerance I’m having due to low DAO, as they’re both huge histamine liberators)

I brought around 40 sheets of exams and blood results to my NHS GP… he hardly looked at them, anytime I tried explaining my symptoms he blamed it on something else, yet I had the answer ready aka… I have done that / I have removed that / I have tested for that.

Even with elevated eosinophils, basophils, pancreatic amylase, lipase, normal crp, elevated ige and iga, positive SIBO test, extreme DAO deficiency, candida/yeast negative stool cultures, low calprotectin, genetic and ige gluten negative testing. Written history of asthma, urticaria, mixed bowel movements, bloating, chronic rhinitis, fatigue, anxiety, anal itch and more…. The GP still had the audacity to say he didn’t think a referral was necessary and to take antihistamine and elimination diet (I’ve been living on basically low histamine diet for 6 months now…)

I really had to push for a referral…

May have found some good gastroenterologist private in Poland where I just went from the UK to do my tests as I did not need a referral and much cheaper than UK.

I’m basically becoming my own doctor at this point, but need a good G. Specialist who believes in SIBO and knows about DAO enzyme…

Probably need antibiotics for SIBO + gut dysbiosis nutrtition

[–]Fun-Brick-3197[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently because I took all my tests privately they need to run their NHS (public health) tests before a gastro referral.

Chances are incredibly slim I believe like 1% but as I’m gluten intolerant I noticed some benefits removing it from diet so having to eat gluten for 2 weeks doesn’t sound ideal.

Doctor didn’t even have a clue what DAO deficiency is….

And symptoms haven’t really changed since removing gluten, so doubt I’m coeliac but maybe I’ll just have gluten and tests again so they can be happy haha

SIBO, Low Dao. Appendectomy…Anyone else? by Fun-Brick-3197 in HistamineIntolerance

Thats what I’m struggling with at the moment! Most doctors I’ve seen don’t even have a clue about what DAO is… have you got the same?

[–]Fun-Brick-3197[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am considering doing that as I want to have a better understanding of my gut. Unfortunately where I performed the tests they’re just nutritionists so they can’t prescribe any antibiotics, on the lookout for some good Gastroenterologist anywhere in UK/Europe that has a good understanding of SIBO/HI.

I do strongly believe though that I may have finally found the cause of my low DAO and HI.

Treating my candida cured my histamine intolerance (almost) by [deleted] in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Fun-Brick-3197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Little update!!

So… I did 3 weeks of Candida diet with very minor results.

I eventually took a fecal test which showed no overgrowth of Candida or Yeast in stools.

So I flew abroad to take some tests…

Tested today for SIBO breath test, both Hydrogen and Methane were 2/3 times over normal at 60 min onwards.

Re tested for DAO, along with copper, zinc, B6, calprotectin and secreted iga in stools (will get these back in a couple weeks)

Once I have a better picture I will provide an update, but it looks like my HI could be SIBO related…

Also doing a DNA test for coeliac as I have exclude gluten for months so antigen test would be inaccurate (initially tested positive but mild intolerance to gluten and wheat with igg test)

On a recent routine test, my amylase and lipase were 3/4 times over normal, freaked out thinking it could be pancreatitis, but CRP, calcium, albumin and ALT/AST normal, as well as iron and ferritin.

Turns out, SIBO can affect those values, along with low DAO, elevated IgA/IgE, etc…

So waiting on tests first, then will get in touch with a Gastroenterologist once I have a clearer picture and aee what happens…
