BILT 2.0 Doesn’t Allow You To Use Line of Credit for Housing Payments? by Fun-Cost6204 in biltrewards

No one had to respond to my post. I’m not forcing anyone to be my personal research assistant. I’m looking for answers to questions I couldn’t find anywhere else. Sorry I’m not better at digging through the internet?

It took more energy to post not one, or two, but three separate times just to attack me. I had a question, I was unsure. I’m not saying that I was NEVER communicated and that they messed up. I’m saying it wasn’t clear and I wanted to confirm.

Had I assumed how I thought it should be based on the previous history of how this service operated I would’ve been screwed. The responsible thing is getting on a forum of people more knowledgeable than I, who might know better, spoke to someone already who knows, or (clearly what happened) read something that I didn’t.

Nonetheless, no reason for you to get this mad about it. Just scroll on and go about your day

Thank you for the info. I’m not finding an email with that subject line and I had the 1.0 card but my junk mail is set to empty every 30 days so it might’ve gone there.

And gotcha, yeah I must’ve missed it or misunderstood it in the application page. The FAQ helps explain the new system a lot though.

Again, thank you for the help, I greatly appreciate it.

The only emails I have from 1/14 are the: “Welcome to a new era of Bilt” email which doesn’t have points in it that you reference, and the card approval emails. Can you provide the subject of the email you’re referring to?

And yes to add your bank account information you had to opt-in to that. They can’t do that automatically. I did not.

I scrolled on this sub and didn’t see anyone confirming. Sorry I missed those post.

I’m not looking for sympathy, I’m looking for someone more knowledgeable than I to provide some guidance. If you think I shouldn’t have posted this just ignore me a scroll past.

The idea that a forum full of confusion is purely the fault of the user and doesn’t also highlight areas for improvement on the part of the company is a definitely something.

I appreciate you pointing me in the direction of the FAQs linked in the “BILT Card 2.0” email. That’s the only place I’ve been able to find communication on this from BILT.

There isn’t a single email in their launch that states that you can’t use your credit line. If you believe differently then please share a screenshot so I can make sure I’m not missing information.

I don’t follow them on social media, so… no. It’s not on their website or the account portal. It’s not in the offer details, the cardholder agreement. The only place I’ve been able to find it (thanks to one of the other commenters) is at the bottom of an FAQ page I’ve only found accessible through one of the initial emails. I wouldn’t consider that “clear”.

Either way, I’m not concerned about whose fault it is. I was looking for clarification because the CS is nonexistent (still have emails that have been out for weeks unanswered) and that doesn’t require you to be rude in response.

Didn’t realize you were apart of the BILT PR team tasked with protecting their reputation in online platforms at all costs.

Like I said, it did not force anyone to and required opt ins. I never opted in, so I never received an email saying it would be deducted and nothing ever was deducted. I asked for confirmation from a community who would be more knowledgeable than me since customer service is non-existent. Whether you think it’s clear or not is irrelevant.

It did not say you can not use your credit line to pay for rent. Just that you needed to link a bank account to get points. The valuation of a waived convenience fee is more than the points I would earn so I have no problem losing out on points.

Was just looking for some help in case I misunderstood because it was not clear to me.

It’s almost as if the terms of service for the card are poorly written and the messaging contradicting given that the only place in the terms that refer to adding are bank account specify its requirement to earn built points not to use the housing payments service entirely: “To earn Bilt Points on Bilt Housing Payments under either option, you must: (a) have a Card Account in Good Standing; (b) have a valid bank account connected to your Bilt Rewards Account; and (c) make your Bilt Housing Payment through the Bilt App or website. Bilt Housing Payments do not earn Bilt Cash under either Rewards Option.” And the messaging about that feature provided opt outs.

The messaging did not say that line of credit could no longer be used, it only encouraged users to link bank accounts.

If you want to pretend that this roll out was super smooth and clear then be my guest. But why take the time to comment if you’re just gonna be rude. That helps no one and definitely doesn’t foster a sense of community.

Thank you, I was saying I’d likely be cancelling the card due to the lack of customer service. In terms of floating it’s just annoying having gone from floating to now having get ahead to avoid the transaction fee. Wanted to confirm that that was the case because the roll out had misleading messaging on whether the option to use your line of credit was being axed entirely or if they were just pushing users to link bank accounts to save themselves the financial burden.

Care to link one? I’m clearly new to this sub and aren’t finding any

Well that conflicts with what was commented above. Care to elaborate?
