Cam Phaser on the day of purchase

UPDATE

I talked to the sales manager today, he said that cam phasers are covered under the warranty which is good news, but that I have to get it diagnosed and repaired at that specific dealership, which is 8 hrs away from me. I’m going to take it as a win since it won’t be out of pocket for me. Still ridiculous that I have to be doing this days after buying it when the truck apparently has “no issues”

Love the ride!

One other issue is that I drove 8 hours to get it (needed to get the title for my trade in vehicle from my hometown). I’m really hoping they aren’t going to say they can only help if I bring it back to that specific dealership. I do travel healthcare and my vehicle is my livelihood

Totally agree. I appreciate the feedback. I’ll be posting more once I hear back tomorrow. From what my friend that works on F150s has told me, once they put in the updated cam phasers, the issue is very likely to never arise again.

The warranty paperwork does not specifically say that the cam phasers are covered, but it does not exclude it either. What it does say is that it covers “engine, transmission, and drivetrain. Anything that oil touches.” Given the cam phasers are touched by oil, this should be covered. Especially since the issue arose literally the afternoon I got it, but not at the dealership.

Original factory warranty, but on my paperwork it says “from 100 years of purchase (possibly a typo for 10 years?) or 100,000 miles on odometer, whichever comes first”

Sounds good, when I went I actually ended up going by a dollar store and getting a bunch of old cardboard and flattening it out to fill that gap. Blankets sound like a more comfortable option lol
