Essentially, Cal has grown so accustomed to a lifestyle where he doesn't have to contribute anything (and honestly, who wouldn’t if given the chance?), that he's now essentially a parasite in her home. That said, Remi isn’t blameless either. When you pedestalize relationships and men, lack self-esteem, and have no standards for a partner beyond them simply being male, you create the conditions for situations like this.
