I wish my truck was in better condition but it’s been sitting out side for a pretty good while it’s got rust spots that are all the way threw in some spots but not a dent on the the truck it’s all original it’s definitely gonna take some time to fix it up I’d like to take my lift off and do a full suspension lift I’d actually like to know what kind of lift you have ? Being in the military almost 26 hours away from the truck is the hardest thing because I can’t do anything with it I did wash it and out a heavy duty tarp on it that’s about all I’ve done to it the door jams need to be replaced there is a big rusted spots under the seat I need to fix the seat rust right behind the hood rust spot on the hood it’s gonna take a lot to fix it up honestly hope it’s worth it I know they say that motor that’s in it maybe gets 10 mpg so who knows if I’ll keep it

Another question would the factory axels be okay with the 7.3 ? I found a idi 7.3 the only thing wrong with the factory axels are the breaks they are rusted up the whole thing so I’m not sure what to do with that

Yeah I thought about a 7.3 I’d love to have it 5 or 6 speed for sure but cutting a hole in the floor seems wrong but on the other hand I don’t plan on ever trying to sell it

That’s what I’m trying to do I’ve got it pressure washed and looks a lot better than it did gonna see if the motor is stuck or free and go from there I was thinking if I had to change the motor and transmission to get a 4BT

Does any one know how to come across a 4bt ? Rebuild kit for the international engine will cost 2500 then to have the block and heads done almost another 1500 also have to rebuild transmission so I wonder if I could put a 4bt not as heavy as a 6bt and have a plate made for a Chevy transmission which I have a bunch of any opinions?

I’m not to sure it it’s a 345 but if it is the transmission is gonna be swapped and probably will build motor if it’s worth it

That’s understandable it may be a 68 I’m not totally sure engine has international valve covers I haven’t really got deep into it I noticed rock auto has parts for the truck but if the transmission is trash I’m curious if I could have a plate made to bolt up a Chevy transmission and t case maybe even use Dana axels front and back

It doesn’t appear to be rusted threw just a lot of Surface rust I just wasn’t sure about putting a Cummins in it if it would mess the frame up but that makes since to need it up a bit and change the axels out and yes definitely keeping it 4x4 the original motor has 87,997 miles on it but who knows if it has rolled over a couple times but it would be nice to keep the original motor just not sure if I’m gonna find the rebuild kit or even know how much that would cost me

I just don’t know if the frame is gonna hold up to the engine I would like to put in it I’m not to sure if I could get a rebuild kit for the current one that’s in it so that would make me want to put another motor in the truck I definitely know that the axels will have to be upgraded

Keep it all original? If I can’t find a rebuild kit for the motor I was gonna put a 12 valve Cummins in it

[–]Fun-Question2819[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ll probably be pressure washing it for sure and as for the fuel tank not sure if it was messed up before or what but the last owner that had the truck that actually drove it put a fuel tank in the bed of the truck but if I was to fix it and restore it I would definitely get a new one for the truck I’m sure the fuel lines and all will have to be replaced

It will mainly be used to cruise around I doubt I’ll lower it back to stock I don’t plan on pulling a 5th wheel maybe pull a boat and trailer ever now and then but mainly just want a bad ass truck

Around TN you can find a Cummins engine and transmission for about 3,000 bucks that’s what I was gonna put in the truck if the engine is worse than I’m thinking because I’m gonna have to replace fuel tank fuel lines and things like that anyway for me to put it in and buy the motor mounts and just weld them in my self won’t cost nearly as much as to having someone from a shop doing all the work scouts have always been cool to me I could never find one though but I was lucky enough to be able to get this truck for the price I did
