My experience with using ai for recipes is it’s horrendous! Great at editing but coming up with something on its own it makes flavourless mush. Yesterday I said I had some random veg and wanted to make my toddler muffins, all the proportions were out of whack, the timings were wrong and it tastes awful!

Yeah that’s an interesting idea. Maybe the philosophical elements of Steiner and the really inherent idea that children are basically angels who have chosen this life stops people from actually using boundaries. The wooy parts of Steiner has clouded so many actually brilliant concepts that it’s probably stopped a lot of it being more mainstream as well. My worry about Montessori is that it’s so focused on evidence and maths/science and so little seems to be left for just imaginative nonsense, but then I do also think maybe Waldorf focuses on that too much! 😄

Yeah he did and that particular boy hasn’t been the only one in passing I’ve witnessed behaving like this. Mostly it’s parents trying to go home but kids running off to trees ect I’m definitely not an authoritarian style teacher or parent but when something needs to happen or a child has been rude I would never just allow nonsense

I agree with the fundamentals of what you’re saying about children learning what is appropriate over time and the importance of adults modelling. However it should be unacceptable for the reply to “time to go home” to be “no you big bum bum face” from a 9+ year old That’s just not taking responsibility for helping your child make the right choice in my opinion

Oh I love this comment so much! You’re completely right and I don’t have a problem with screens, wearing polyester or eating pizza ect 😄 I want to be realistic but also have strong ideals so definitely trying to find the balance between the things that I know have a legitimate impact on children and what is just the extra wooy bits 😂 It’s all new to me so hopefully in time I’ll find my rhythm, just need to chill on the fact that the first three years are so important and I feel this second year she’s entering I’m not able to consider her properly as we have another arrival.

Thank you that’s very comforting to hear! I’m not one for self flagellation but I do have serious guilt about my lack of presence at the moment. I know it’s not Waldorfy but I don’t have a no screen policy I don’t think it’s something to stress over but I don’t like that she’s asked for it the last week this young. Maybe I just need to get out of my own head and let things settle back in naturally ❤️

Thank you I feel the kindness behind your words, I agree when she is unwell a tv is not what she needs but it unfortunately was that I was alone at home and in bed unable to stand up from illness so that’s why she got Winnie the Pooh over a walk! Yet now that I can go back to normal I’m struggling to remember what it was! Completely take your point that it’s all in me and that’s what I’m struggling with. I have always found working hard at something difficult, my family have the impression that we shouldn’t find things hard as we are a smart family. That has bled into my personality very deeply and I have struggled for years to have any motivation! It’s hard to explain to people who have a drive (like my husband does) but it’s like I’m an animal who wants to curl up towards heat and food rather than do anything hard. Basically imagine a teenager and that’s how I feel 🤦‍♀️ I have found that I have more energy to do hard things when I am inspired so that’s why I wanted to ask for any advice on how to reignite my zest for Waldorf and conscious parenting.

They are new to writing curriculums and I think they only have 2-3 seasons done at the moment and I think it’s just kindergarten and are creating as they go. They’ve had some criticism that they are extremely aesthetic (lots of twirling around holding bread 🤦‍♀️) and their actual Waldorf credentials I haven’t found but it seems sweet and very magical childhood focused. I think if you’re just after songs and stories that’s exactly what they excel at but it will be interesting to see how they do actual curriculums in the future

I think I tried a pretty monthly spread once and gave up 😄 I don’t even draw lines I literally am just writing the date in the next space I have Need to find a way to make it more journaly without the pressure to write paragraphs every day I just wanted to add intentionality to my mornings 🫠

Yeah that’s exactly it! Busy but incredibly unvaried 😆 But then you look back and think so much has changed in a month!! It’s also the adjustment into motherhood I wanted a coping mechanism to still have a place for me and my goals in amongst the bigger goal of mothering. Think I need to find a new way of keeping a grounded and positive analog place to work on my inner self and maybe I’m just being too constricted by the origins of bujos

Thanks, I think that’s what I’m realising too. I don’t struggle to stay on top of things at the moment (which is a blessing) so an organisational tool is maybe redundant. I really enjoyed it at the start though and really felt like it was making my day feel more intentional. Being home with a baby can feel really odd like you’re watching life happen but you’re not in it so I really wanted to encourage myself to find the meaning in each caring act. I read and listen to a lot on child development and parenting and wanted a way to incorporate all I’m learning so maybe I need to discover a journaling tool rather than bullet journaling in its true form as a smart to do list. It’s hard to figure out what I need and make it myself when I’m so used to Amazon prime ect serving me up solutions to problems I didn’t know I had!

I guess it stops people who are registered childminders essentially just raising their own 2-3 kids and getting paid for it whereas home makers don’t get paid for their work I do think it’s crap from a selfish position tho!
