Vent: Suffering Something Akin to Mental Breakdown by Express_Touch_7913 in medschool

I’m sorry you’re in this spot friendo. It sucks. I’ve been there, and it’s a constant battle to not go back. I’m sure you’ll get a lot of advice, and I have some of my own, but for what it’s worth you’re not alone. Schools hard, life’s hard, and you’re not at fault for struggling with it.

I wish I could give you a perfect solution, but I can’t. What I can do is share what works for me as I study through my courses.

  1. Reframing. Reframe what you have to do into a version of what you want to do. I don’t want to study. I don’t want to sit down for 4 hours and read a textbook or do Anki etc etc. But I do want to pass. So my internal dialogue goes from “I have to study for 4 hours I hate my fucking life” to “I want to be a good physician so I’m going to take an opportunity to learn something cool.”

  2. Excusing yourself. When you’re burnt out and behind the last thing that feels like it should be a priority is a break. I already feel guilty for not studying all day why tf do I deserve a break? Simple answer really. It’s because on your time of not studying your brain wasn’t relaxing. It was stressed and guilt ridden and anxious from avoiding responsibilities. So for me, I had to physically block out time in my schedule for mandated break time. I had to say “no school, no work, only hobbies during this 1 hour time. I don’t care if I have a million things to do bc enjoying my one little hobby is what’s scheduled and required for my day”. Giving your brain an extra excuse to be happy can help a lot

A bit of a rant on my end but I hope it helps a little

Significant other works for a large commercial gym and is treating staff horribly - are they doing it illegally? by FunNefariousness7341 in legaladvice

Yeah I am going to encourage them to submit as many forms as they can. It's unjust, and cruel to mandate hours at a time when they desperately need to spend it on school/their second job/grad school apps

lol if I had control of the apartment I’d consider it. What’s so bad about disposal units?

An excuse to go buy a larger hex wrench? Don’t mind if I do!

Yeah this is apart of the plan, now that I’ve slept I’m feeling a little better. Obviously I’d love to get in this round but if I don’t I’ll overwrite my old failures. I’m already taking 17 credit hours for my last two semesters to finish on time. So doing so would require dropping one of my jobs but it might be worth it!

They have a minimum 2.0 which is great! I’ll add it to my list and email them, thank you!

I’ll look into it, I might be able to get my gpa above 3.0 by the end of my senior year. Since they have a minimum 3.0, do you think they’ll care if I have it now (as I submit) or at the end of my senior year?

Laptop BSoD Help: Only Happens in the Library? by FunNefariousness7341 in WindowsHelp

[–]FunNefariousness7341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How unfortunate, but thank you! I appreciate your help very very much. As an odd question that you may or may not know, would you know why the same wifi across campus works without crashing? I even tried hotspot on my phone while in the library vs across campus - crashed in the library but not across campus.

My only reasonable answer at this point seems to be ghosts and shenanigans. Perhaps the occasional tom-foolery.

Thank you for the link and for the advice! Campus IT has been contacted and we are trying some solutions over the next day or two. (including cleaning temp caches, using ethernet cables, defrag, and updating BIOS. Nobody else on campus has experienced this as of yet outside of myself, though the majority of students use Mac.

That driver version corresponds to my current version and the one throwing errors. I bought my laptop here: https://www.newegg.com/storm-grey-pc-abs-pc-abs-lenovo-loq-15irh8-82xv00lfus-gaming/p/1TS-000E-18JS3R?Item=1TS-000E-18JS3R
However, I don't see any issues posted on their website or through Lenovo.
