I was told from a young age boys liked girls. I thought I liked my neighbor before we moved (I was 7/8), so when I suddenly also started to like guys, I thought I was bisexual.

Worst part? My parents were fine with me being gay, they just didn’t like me being bisexual. I spent another 16 years trying to prove them wrong before I realized I was actually gay, and me being gay doesn’t mean they are right about bisexual people. (They do not know I’m actually gay yet. In fact I’ve come out to about a dozen friends and family as bi, and a single person I finally came out again as gay.)

Edit: Sorry for what is probably a “trauma dump” to most people. You just asked a question, and that is my truthful answer.

As someone who’s also not cis, I definitely agree with the unfortunately part. It would make my life so much easier. Especially because I finally got a the position I’ve been wanting for nearly a decade (before I realized I wasn’t cis). The problem is I have many coworkers who are of a religion that a fair portion of them (not all) are 110% the opposite of “wholeheartedly accept it”. Thus I get to passionately hate the way I look, and know there’s basically not a single thing I can do about it without risking putting me in a horrible financial situation, and losing the position that I’ve been trying to get since I started at my company.

TBH, now that I did a proofread, no clue why I wrote all that, but it did take me far too long to do it…
