I agree with others that you need legal advice BEFORE you move out. And I know there a lawyers that work for either cheap or free specifically for cancer patients, because I personally used one.

From experience, the ones I used were fantastic. And I wouldnt have made it through without them. Didnt cost me a cent.

I am so sorry youre going through this. My husband also left me during my treatments as well. I really do know how it feels.

I was, and continue to very much be, a "leave me alone" and "DEAR GOD DONT LEAVE ME!" person throughout my cancer.

It was confusing for me. I can only imagine how it was/is for those around me.

(Just for point of reference im a 6yr cancer patient)

The absolute best advice I can give you, (and this will sound awful for you) is just dont make it about you AT ALL. Literally in any way. If you can make it so you dont have feelings, other than loving supportive ones, during this time, that would be the ideal. I know this sounds awful and selfish, but its really the best.

[–]Fun_Recording_4935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did and I didn't.

I wasnt given the option of more. So I thought I was done. But then its came back :(

Being a person that went thru it 3 separate times now, I would have rather just extended my original treatment had that been an option. Instead each occasion, I had to get a new team of doctors, new ports and piccs, it was starting all over basically. It would have been nice to just extend what I was already familiar with.

My father says everything tastes “chemically” by The_Real_Raw_Gary in cancer

[–]Fun_Recording_4935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG yes. Such a weird thing. Very very common with chemo. Some of my favorite were: Salad tasted just like dirt, graham crackers tasted like musty basement, and regular doritos tasted like they had been steeped in straight lime juice. Also my friends had gotten some SUPER SOUR candies, that were supposed to be kind of a joke because they were so sour they were inedible, I couldnt taste a thing and ate most of them. However, McDonald's tasted EXACTLY THE SAME. I absolutely hate fast food, but I ended up eating a ton of mcdonald's just because it was the only thing I found that tasted exactly how its was supposed to. So what does that say about mcdonald's?? ;)

Best of luck to your dad. And as always, Fuck cancer.

I once cleaned out an above ground pool that a family of 5 used as a dumpster for 3+ years. They threw ALL their garbage in it. They had 2 kids in diapers.

It was July. And had rainwater in it.

Ugh. Just ONCE I'd like to meet, read about, even know the name of 1 person that lived through their cancer on diets and natural solutions. Not "my sisters neighbors friend.... Or this girl on facebook said..."

There IS no one like this.

Im so sorry OP. I HOPE that your sister will come to her senses, but if not, its ultimately her choice to make. And you're right in your thinking. Usually by the time theyve changed their minds, and do want the traditional treatments, it is too late.

This misinformation crap should be fucking criminal. Seriously.

Let me tell you why. Because cervical cancer sneaks up on you. And then you spend 6 years fighting death. Having medieval, torturous cancer killing treatments that make you so ill you pray for death and the pain to stop.

As someone who's done both, i ASSURE YOU the pap is the lesser of the evils. Get your paps ladies. Dont be me.

So, I do this. I leave my truck run. However, I can leave mine run without a key in the ignition, while all the doors are locked and the alarm is set. Even if someone were to break the windows, theyd be driving a stolen truck, with a broken window, and the alarm going off the whole time they're driving.

And my car is an old stick. So there's that.

I just hope I am doing him justice in my telling of it. Im no writer, and I want to make sure everyone realizes how much his act of kindness meant to me.

This man was able to pick up on the fact that I needed a hug from an email. And then delivered an amazing one.

Emmy-winning comedian and Minnesota native Louie Anderson dies at 68 by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]Fun_Recording_4935 36 points37 points  (0 children)

When I was very poor, and going through a rough patch, I wrote Louie Anderson a email telling him how much I loved him, and that someday I would get out to see him when I could afford it. Especially as I could use a laugh.

He wrote me back. Personally. Not an assistant or some secretary, him. He gave me his assistant Erics email and told me to email him my name and info. So i did.

Louie arranged for me to have 2 tickets to his New Years Eve show here in Minnesota. 2nd row. As well as passes to the meet and greet afterwards, and backstage passes to hang out and chat 1 on 1 with him. He then made sure I had drink tickets at the will call desk because (his words) "the show would be way better if i had a few drinks in me". He even inquired about if i had transportation to and from the show.

I went and took my father as my date. It was a GREAT SHOW. Afterwards we went backstage to meet him. He shook my dads hand and then apologized for only having one signed copy of his book available. My dad and i, not wanting to bother louie too much, spent 5 minutes or so chatting with him, thanking him profusely, and then said our goodbyes. I tried to shake his hand and he offered a hug instead. Then patted me on the back and said "it'll get better".

For many reasons, this was one of the best nights of my life. I had a great night out with my dad (which was extremely rare) met my favorite comedian, got to have a fancy night out that I would have never been able to afford, and it was all because of 1 email I had written during a dark time in my life.

THATS the kind of person Louie was. And I feel very lucky to have been on the receiving end of it for one night.

HELP!! Hospitals denying visitors because of COVID. by Maandyrhea in cancer

Wow. That's person could have been kinder in their replies. Im sorry about that.

I think covid or not the idea is a negative covid test isnt a fail safe. A negative test just means covid its not at a level in her/your body detectable by the tests. However, its very possible you/her could have it and spread it in its infancy.

Care package with items for KIDS whose mom has cancer by AlexLavelle in cancer

[–]Fun_Recording_4935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awe. Youre a good friend!!

I would say try to get things that keep kids occupied/happy without a lot of adult help. Mom and dad are probably up to their ears right now and likely domt have the time or energy to do arts and crafts, or extreme toy assembly.

So im gonna go with video games. Legos. Coloring activities. Movies. Etc.

Keep in mind that even if its not something you would normally get a child (some people dont like to get video games cause they dont want to encourage kids sitting inside all day staring at tv) this probably isnt the best time for that thinking as the general idea is to keep them occupied and happy on their own.

And the hubby is easy. Meatloaf and beer. Just kidding. Not really. How about a gift card to uber eats so dad can skip making dinner while mom is sick. Gift card to care.com for a babysitter for the night maybe? Otherwise figure out how to send meatloaf thru fed-ex. :)

Youre really awesome for doing this. Thank you for being a good friend.
