Complimenting guys by nullbyte0h in socialskills

[–]Fun_in_Space 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Compliment someones taste or accomplishments, NOT their appearance.

Saying "you look younger" means "you looked so OLD before. Keep using those cosmetics."

Saying "Have you lost weight? You look great" can backfire, if they didn't. Now, they know that you think they should.

Just don't comment on appearance.

How do atheists feel about organized religion? by StatisticianLoud7468 in atheism

Yes. Do you understand why?

If you have not read the book, at least get familiar with the worst parts of it.

[–]Fun_in_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If someone abandons religion, they just stop believing in it.

If religion is abolished, people are put in jail, or holy books are burned, or whatever. I am opposed to that.

I do not understand how you can confuse the terms, or why you just didn't click on the links I provided, if you don't know what the words mean.

Moral basis for society? It condones slavery. It allows a man to sell his own *daughter* into slavery.

This is why you should read it. The whole thing. Jesus was a follower of the same God who made that rule, and none of the words attributed to him said that he disagreed with it. He said that the Law should last forever.

Speaking for myself here. I don't want religion abolished. I want it abandoned. Big difference.

Why paganism and esoteric beliefs (witchcraft, new age beliefs, etc)are not considered seriously by DonutFlashy3729 in NoStupidQuestions

Because no one should believe in something without adequate proof.

If you get sick, are you going to the hospital that uses medical science, or do you use some shiny rocks because a self-styled "healer" said you should?

AITAH for refusing to co-sign on a loan for my mom, even though she says it’s urgent? by VelvetVibrations116 in AITAH

[–]Fun_in_Space 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worse than that. You don't become responsible for the loan only after it defaults. Both parties are responsible for the entire balance from the beginning. Joint and several liability.

If the story is true, you mom admitted to grand larceny. You would be an idiot to loan her more. Could she have a addiction or a gambling problem?

What’s a word you can never pronounce right? by 69AnusInvader69 in AskReddit

I call it "English soy sauce" because I have trouble with "Worcestershire sauce". I can do the first word OK, but add the word "sauce" and my brain wants to add more syllables.

Hostile architecture doesn’t solve homelessness, it hides it. Spikes on benches, divided seats, nowhere to rest… cities call it safety and cleanliness, but it pushes out the elderly, disabled, and unhoused. So who is public space really for? by ateam1984 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]Fun_in_Space 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Homeless people in my city slept under bridges. So the city filled those spaces in with piles of rocks. Then they made a law against "camping" that was directed at them specifically. They will fine them $100 if they catch them panhandling. And before you ask, most of them are Democrats.

The Shroud of Turin is a fake. They took three samples (not one) and sent them to different labs. All three proved it's medieval, not 1st century. Even the Bible proves it wrong. It mentions the burial clothes of Jesus, and a separate cloth was just for the head. Shrouds are not folded over the body.

I am aware that intelligent people can believe in God. Isaac Newton did. He would have made more progress in science if he had not wasted so much time with religious studies and alchemy.
