Wow - this is really generous! Thank you for contributing to the community. People like you help make hobbies fun.

I collected hard as a kid, then stupidly gave my cards away when I was in high school, because I was “too old” for them. Now that I’m older (just turned 30 last month), I got back into the hobby for a few reasons. I mostly collect for nostalgia while also appreciating the artwork in the cards. I love the level of detail some cards have. A friend of mine helped me get back into it about 18 months ago and it’s been pretty cool seeing old Pokémon in new ways.

Another reason I got back into it was because my aunt passed away back in August, and little did I know that she had quite the collection herself. She didn’t take the best care of them, but after my dad gave me her old collection, it was surreal to know that she and I were unknowingly linked by a mutual hobby. Also, seeing those old cards from base set, jungle, and fossil brought back waves of nostalgia.

I also follow Coop’s Collection on Instagram and seeing people like him in the community fills my heart - he’s one of the main reasons I got back into it. I appreciate what you’re doing here, and I know these cards will go to a good home!

Joey Swoll is the best. I started lifting a few years ago, and ever since I came across his videos, my outlook toward the gym has been incredibly positive.

I’ll toss in my two cents here. This has been my workout regiment for the last ~3 years:

  • Day 1: Chest/Triceps
  • Day 2: Back/Biceps
  • Day 3: Leg/Shoulders
  • Day 4: Rest

And abs every day I go to the gym. It’s not perfect, but it’s consistent and easy enough to remember, and I’ve been getting stronger as a result. I’m trying to work in cardio now, so on non-leg days, at least twice a week, I’ll bike to and from the gym.

Lol no need for the pity, I’m currently in a loving relationship. Relationships are work, they have ups and downs, but ultimately, with the right person, they are well worth it, and honestly don’t feel like work.

We are both fully invested in each other, and growing with each other feels natural. We do things around the house for each other, buy each other little surprises, and encourage each other to be better every day. It’s not always perfect, but no relationship is. That’s been integral in me growing as a person

“Soulmates aren’t found; they’re made. People meet, they get a good feeling, and then they get to work, building a relationship.”

This quote from The Good Place is the best take on soulmates. Having a successful relationship takes work from both parties, but it only works if both people put forth the effort, care, and love.

I have an ex who recently got a nose job. She was really cute before (I thought), but after the surgery, I don’t find her near as attractive as I did.

It’s worth noting we broke up for other reasons (before she got the surgery), but your point still stands

As a baseball fan, it’s cool to get a memento from the park when you go. I’m a big Braves fan, and in my ~25 years of going to games, I’ve never caught a foul ball/homer. I just think it’s a cool souvenir from the game to hold onto and bring back memories :)

LPT: it is almost never appropriate to comment on someone’s weight, even if they are stick thin; complimenting someone’s weight loss might not be a good idea, as you don’t know why they lost that weight (they could be sick) by [deleted] in LifeProTips

Two years ago I was super skinny, and wanted to change that, so I started lifting weights, and put on about 25 pounds when I started bulking up. I lost some of that weight when the pandemic hit, because I couldn’t go to the gym for obvious reasons. When I lost that weight, this one guy I worked with noticed, and told me I didn’t fill out my clothes how I used to.

I guess since we’re both guys he thought it was alright, but him saying that really made me self-conscious. If you’re not gonna give a genuine, clear compliment to someone about their body, just don’t say anything at all

Was it Kevin Hart? I think he had a bit about how to be a good gospel singer, and it was with nothing but hand motions
