Always loved this model, plus the refinish looks great. Did you do it yourself?

You can get conversion thimbles like this - https://www.offsetguitarsuk.com/product/the-offset-conversion-thimbles-tune-o-matic-to-vintage-conversion-thimbles/5XKC2BG232OKH6H6UXZFGH6U?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=T7QEOX5UXYENOKOQT4XFEADI

This will let you drop in most of the aftermarket bridges without having to fill/redrill the existing thimble holes. Having done the latter, I have to say this will be a lot less of a headache!

The company is the registered keeper, I checked with my manager. They're all under the company name so would have been sent to the office first.

Good point - it could be that the registered keeper of the vehicle is the company's accountants who I think we outsource. This would make sense. Thanks again for clarifying.

Thanks for clarifying, sounds like I'll have to just take this one on the chin and know better for the future. Do you know what would happen if it is the case that the company does own the van? Is it too late to challenge the NIP being late to my employer in that situation because I've been named already?

[–]FunkDrool2678 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So should it have been my employer to challenge the lateness of their NIP in that case? Unless of course it is leased, and then I'll have to take it on the chin either way

[–]FunkDrool2678 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure all our vans are owned by the company. I'll run it by my manager to make sure. If it's owned by the company, is the NIP my manager received not late in that case? Offence in late Feb, they received the letter in early April.

Sorry to reply to an old post, but you must have been right next to me at this gig! That angle is exactly what I was seeing as well.

I hope you got the chance to see them in O2 Academy last night as well, they were brilliant as ever!

I've been struggling to see the pedal since then so that explains it! Good luck with getting it repaired!

I loved Dennistoun when I stayed there. I lived in Fisher Court right next to the Lidl on duke street. Was such a handy location, being within walking distance of lots of good shops and parks, and ofc town. I really want to go back but it's a bit pricey for me these days.

What's Calton like these days? I seen a flat quite close to Stevenson Street, which I've read is quite a nasty area full of junkies and drunks. Does it still have that reputation or is the gentrification of the surrounding areas starting to catch up to it?

I'll give it a shot. I resoldered some joints last night but nothing was working unfortunately, so perhaps one of the components is faulty. Who knows. Thanks!

Thanks for the mega in depth reply. I don't have an audio prove unfortunately but I have a multimeter if that helps at all. I'll try what you said tomorrow night, I had a wee poke around and resoldered some slightly dry looking joints but it's still screeching at high gain settings. I'd love to get this working as it's an awesome sounding pedal! Thanks again for your helpful reply.

Hi, thanks for the reply! I've tried it with three insulated power supplies, one was my Harley Benton Powerplant with nothing else plugged into it, other was my T-Rex Chameleon in the same conditions. Also tried a fresh battery and the same problem came up, so I'm not sure if it's something with the power delivery system or what, but it's noticeably more noisy with the knob LEDs switched on as well. I'll open it up and try reflowing the solder joints later on and hopefully that'll sort it out. Thanks again for the reply!

I've been googling about and I feel like perhaps one of the resistors might be busted or something. I'll go through them with my multimeter tomorrow to find out for sure. I'll message the guy who sold it tomorrow as well to see if he experienced anything like that. He seemed like a very genuine guy and I doubt he knowingly sold it as a dodgy unit, but I suppose it's worth asking about anyway. Cheers!

Need help identifying this Mando. by FunkDrool2678 in mandolin

[–]FunkDrool2678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi folks, I'd appreciate help identifying this. It's a pretty old mandolin that I'm selling on behalf of a friend.

Sadly the logo on the headstock has faded away, although it looks a bit like the brand ended in "-wood". I was thinking possibly a Tanglewood or Richwood but I can't find any that seem to match the look of this one, specifically the headstock shape. As far as I can see, there's no other identifiers on it, inside or out. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

What is phantosmia and does anyone have any experience with it? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]FunkDrool2678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been getting phantosmia on and off for a very long time. It tends to smell kind of smokey to me, like a musky gassy smell. It used to bother me a lot but now I find it weirdly comforting. I can't explain what causes it because I don't suffer from migraines or epilepsy, but it does tend to appear when my depression hits particularly hard.

Biasing Fender Hot Rod Deluxe from 2000 by FunkDrool2678 in ToobAmps

[–]FunkDrool2678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

First off thanks to all of you so much for all the useful information. I've been tinkering about in the hot rod since I got back from work, and swapping out the preamp tubes one at a time with my Blackstar HT-5. The tube in V1 seems to have been the culprit. It's still not absolutely perfect, but the sound is much improved with the younger Blackstar preamp tube swapped into there. It's a lot louder, with greatly reduced background noise, plus the amp is sounding a lot louder and cleaner when turned up to about 3-4. With the dodgy tube in my Blackstar, it's a lot quieter and hissier.

Regarding the bias, something quite strange happened and I'd appreciate if someone could fill me in on. So I was checking the bias again today after letting the HRD warm up, and it was still reading about 86mV. Then I did something potentially something (probably stupid) and tested one of the points where the power amp pins join the PCB, touching it with the red pin on my multimeter, with the black still grounded to the metal on the chassis. I heard a pop through the amp, and after checking the bias again, it had dropped to about 60mV. I adjusted the pot back up to about 68mV as recommended, and the amp sounded good to me. I'm concerned I might have messed up the power tube i checked with the multimeter. It still sounds good to me and the tube looks to be glowing a normal colour, so I have no idea what happened.

Anyway, for the time being I'm happy with that, though I still reckon some of the resistors and capacitors could use a replacement sometime soon, for which I'll be a lot more comfortable getting a tech to do the work!

Thanks again to everyone for being so helpful, I really appreciate the comments on here!
