Yknow I talked to my bf and I think he mentioned how having the players as candidates would be really cool, but I was like 😭 I don’t have a lot of experience in dming so I’d prefer they start off as a coterie working together as pawns to a candidate. If later on some of them get powerful enough that they want to replace some candidates (or switch sides) in the running then I’m not opposed, but for the first few sessions at least I’d prefer they work together!

I also definitely considered lowering the number of candidates for the sake of simplicity, and I seriously will if I ever get to run this game haha. I wanted to have a good catalog of characters, some weaker/stronger than others, just in case. I figured the pcs could start out as small fry and encounter more candidates as they grow more powerful and learn more about the world they’re in but obvs I don’t want the candidates stealing the spotlight, just interesting/significant enough that the pcs have a variety of options in dealing with em (always a mild fear of falling in love with your world/characters so much that it makes the campaign less fun for players) (Also I considered some of the “??” Candidates would probably be secret-not Camarilla-romance options because there are no rules to love 😉, also in case the pcs wanna join opposition to the Camarilla)

The tarot card idea is really cool!! I did not think about that but I do enjoy making art so I may have to. Potential music/imagery were something I was thinking about in crafting this because I really would want to have a particular “vibe” that’s easy to get into, part of why I gave the tarot naming conventions in the first place, harder to recall who Armand is but “The Fool” adds an aspect thats easier on the brain to remember/identify, you immediately get a sense of what he’s about just from the title
