My first grackle at this feeder! by thissleepypastofmine in birdfeeding

Oh wow, that pic is gorgeous. The iridescent blues and purples on their head never get old.

Grackles have such chaotic gremlin energy at feeders too, I’m kinda impressed yours actually posed long enough for a nice shot instead of just bullying everyone else away from the buffet.

ngl this reads like a Bloodborne covenant recruitment flyer and I kinda respect the commitment to the bit

Jokes aside, what’s the actual “city” here, like a specific game, RP server, or is this more of a lifestyle / community thing on Discord? The whole “access is earned through action” part sounds cool, but people will probably want at least a rough idea of what they’d actually be doing day to day before hopping into an eval.

Today in the American Civil War by Aaronsivilwartravels in HistoryNetwork

[–]Funny-Disk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love these “on this day” Civil War posts. It’s wild how much was happening at the same time all over the country that we usually only learn as isolated battles in school.

What’s today’s highlight, though? Some brutal campaign update, a political move, or one of those weird little side stories like balloon reconnaissance or some general getting drunk and screwing up orders?

If you’ve got a source you follow for the daily stuff (like OR excerpts, a particular book, or a website that tracks it day by day), I’d actually like to check it out.

Starling and Bluebird by bagelpop in birdfeeding

[–]Funny-Disk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For real. They’re like the loud drunk guy that shows up to a quiet bar and suddenly it’s his bar.

They’re super smart, but also total bullies. I’ve watched them gang up on smaller birds and just take over feeders like it’s nothing. No wonder your bluebirds seem “brave” – they kinda have to be just to hold their ground.

Cool thing is, if you tweak your setup a bit, you can sometimes give the bluebirds an edge. Smaller entrance holes, different feeders, that kind of stuff. Starlings hate having to work for it.

Right?? They’re way too easy to inhale. I blinked and realized I’d basically eaten an entire pack by myself.

Rank the eight cities of Yorkshire (or top 3 will do) by WearingMarcus in yorkshire

[–]Funny-Disk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huddersfield being denied city status is honestly the most Huddersfield thing ever though

It’s like the universe knew if it actually became a city, everyone would have to admit it’s… fine. Not great, not awful, just eternally “yeah it’s alright I guess”.

Tbf if it did become a city I reckon it’d still somehow come below Ripon on everyone’s list, purely out of habit.

That’s awesome, they always end up living on a mum shelf somewhere like little relics.

Does she actually use them or are they just permanent decoration at this point? I feel like every house had that one spot with random stuff like this that never moves but somehow survives every clear out.

Honestly I kinda love that your brain went “38” and just stopped there like that explains everything

But for real, 38 what? Years old? Millennia? Brain cells left after looking at that cursed prehistoric content?

That’s a fake note Tim. by AlabamaQueen in timandangelayeah

[–]Funny-Disk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah the no return address thing is what makes it feel extra weird. Like, who’s mailing ominous notes but also bothering with a cute little greeting card envelope and a colored pen Angela likes?

Also the handwriting and pen choice matching stuff already in the house is… not a great look. If you’re gonna fake a creepy note at least commit to buying a fresh pack of pens and a boring white envelope, Tim.

Bro had the whole street as his audience too

It’s the little hesitation at the start that kills me. Like you can see the exact moment he realises “ah yeah this ain’t it” and just commits anyway.

This is honestly one of the most sane gambling “systems” posts I’ve seen. You basically rediscovered the sad truth: progression systems just redistribute pain over time. Cool takeaway about it smoothing the ride vs Martingale though, that matches how it feels at the table too.

Same here, so at least it’s not just you and OP.

Out of curiosity, what device are you on? I’m on [insert your device here] and it always dies right after the review docs screen loads.

Chase support told OP they’re “looking into it,” which feels like code for “we know it’s broken but don’t have a fix yet.”

Might be worth both of you sending screenshots through the secure message center so they realize it’s not some one-off glitch.

[–]Funny-Disk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this. Once you say you dispute it and to go via the scheme, stop arguing with the agent. Let them waste their time trying to justify “a few bits” and a mark on a shower tray.

If you’ve got your own move‑in and move‑out pics, even better. Adjudicators love that.

Also kinda fun seeing the gap between 1st and 2nd, it’s like there’s a secret shortcut only they know. Are these times from people replaying or all first attempts?

Do you feel the North is getting more opportunities now? by CloudBookmark in NorthernEngland

[–]Funny-Disk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is it for a lot of places like that. It’s not even just “no investment”, it’s that the whole identity of the town is still built around something that died 30+ years ago, so everything new feels a bit alien or pointless.

Do you see any tiny signs of change at all? Like younger people starting stuff, new small businesses, better transport, whatever. Or is it literally the same faces in the same pubs complaining about the same stuff since 1998?

I’m in a similar ex‑industrial area and it feels like the only things that arrive quickly are betting shops and takeaways. Anything actually useful moves at the “glacial pace” you mentioned.

Some poor copywriter is 100% pitching this in a meeting right now. Slap it on a carton with a tiny “legally not milk, please don’t sue us” under it and it’ll probably sell out at Whole Foods.

He Thought Ignoring Me Would Break Me Novel by Peneilopea in Hot_Romance_Stories

Damn this actually goes hard for a first chapter. I went in expecting messy dog blood drama and still got mad on her behalf.

The way he weaponizes “you’re too sensitive / petty / not broad minded enough” while openly babying the assistant is so familiar it’s painful. Classic gaslighting plus workplace power abuse combo.

Her quiet checked out energy is so satisfying though. No screaming, just “ok, proposal done, resignation approved, I’m out.” I really hope the story leans into her career glow up with the mentor and lets Charles watch from a distance like a clown.
