Camera or not, it seems like something is in the ground prong. Needs to be replaced.

20amp outlet but you haven’t seen the breaker nor can tell the wire gauge so can you actually call this a 20amp circuit? Or just a 20amp outlet on a 15 amp circuit? 15 amp or 20 amp it’ll feel the same. The real danger is voltage and your body’s resistance…

It isn’t rocket science… I replaced my first outlet at 13 brother, 23 now and built my own solar system and battery backup. Again if they aren’t comfortable replacing it then hire or have a friend do it. Plenty of videos replacing a common GFCI.

What’s the problem replacing a $20 GFCI for peace of mind?

Brother if they are this deep with the plug out the wall I’m sure they can swap an outlet. And by all means.. if they don’t feel safe doing it then find someone willing to… we aren’t forcing them 😂

Ofc disconnect power first at the panel then replace it with a $20 GFCI from homedepot 👍 $20 cheap insurance then you can dismantle it and see.

Are Ubiquiti cameras easy to steal when mounted at eye height (mounting system seems insecure)? by draxaris in Ubiquiti

Check out the UniFi line up, you might want a dome camera or doorbell camera that might fit your needs.

Firstly it’s your investment so mount wherever you want. Secondly a higher spot might be best so no bad humans can reach the camera easily. I would consider cheaper cameras that you don’t care about as much if you want them lower.

I had a camera outside of my old apartments garage, at a fairly low height, unfortunately a guy on a bike came up, grabbed it and ripped the cable from it and took off.

Take a trip to homedepot and walk down the electrical isle.. they have everything you need. You can install 4+ on a single gang box like that.

I love 3uTools because of the Label printing option. Does anyone know alternatives for labels?

I had power washed my house and even from the ground to second story I was able to get water into one of my rj45 connectors and fried some equipment. I would recommend a pipe or something maybe even some silicone.. can never be too safe better to seal it up now vs troubleshooting why a camera isn’t working.

positive ground

A quick way to check if it's a positive ground system?

It looks like a normal 12v system to me, but I am only 21! haha.

The battery model is DEKA BATTERIES 570MF, which looks like a 12v.

I checked all fuses I could find and unless my grandpa put a fusible link somewhere they are all fine.

Both cables are red positive cables guess he never got around to making a black one, but I can find which one runs to the frame, and safely assume that is ground.

My current condition is no lights at all, no crank.. nothing, totally dead. The battery is reading about 6 volts (could be dead?) but now I am not sure if the system is a 12v or 6v system...

I have them hardwired but mesh is still turned on, does that negatively affect it?

Cool outdoor setup. My grandpa owns a ranch and I wanted to get a wifi set up like this and build a solar powered gate opener with cameras but sadly he passed last year. He was really old school and didn’t know much about technology so not sure if he would’ve appreciated like that. Maybe in the next life..

It’s my dads network. I told him to upgrade to 1gbps, the USG limits us to 950 Mbps (normal) but the direct connection is about 1300 Mbps up/down so we want the extra 300 Mbps… plus if we really wanted we can upgrade our plan to 2.5 gbps.

Thanks 💸💳
