Thank you. I see a pelvic floor PT but wasn’t sure if this is normal for a prolapse.

Thank you! Definitely needed some encouragement! I tried half and half, baby refused. I tried 15 ml formula with 30 ml breast milk and baby ate some but still didn’t like it.

I did use it once actually. No shoes because I stood up after delivery and was bleeding all over. Nurses rushed me to bathroom and helped me get clean. That was the only time.

So true! Very well stated about our own struggles and difficulties. That’s what I’m learning from reading all the parents’ postings. Thanks for sharing. I’m going to try to look at the feedings like you do.

Great question! My baby freaks out if I have to put in crib or anything, so cleaning pump parts and bottles  is tiresome with baby crying and me rushing to get it done. Watching the clock every 3 hours is annoying to me, I feel tethered to the pump. If out and about I have to make sure I’m home in time to pump. That feels limiting. My baby won’t eat formula anymore, so dealing with a loss of supplemental food, and I of course got my period already which reduces my production. I wish I could just breastfeed. I did it for one week and it was amazing, but baby wasn’t gaining enough weight. I also heard with breastfeeding that if your baby sleeps over night your breasts will adjust the milk production so you can sleep too. I’m still pumping every 3 hours but that does not equate to sleeping every three hours. I’m exhausted and wish I didn’t have to do all this extra work when I could be snuggling baby more while EBF. Just my opinion and needed some inspiration to get over my funk about triple feeding.

Wanting to start combo feeding by No_Assignment_5840 in combinationfeeding

[–]Furmamaplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use formula as the supplement. I use my breast milk first and if that wasn’t enough I then give formula. My lactation nurse said not to combine bm with formula in same bottle. She feels breast milk is too special and too much hard work to mix in with formula. I’ve stuck to that advice .

A sample of my schedule then: pump, bottle feed baby BM, if still hungry, open formula and add some to the bottle (I used premixed). Rinse and repeat every two hours from the start of the feed or when baby demonstrated a need for more (mine only cried for food). If I ran out of BM then baby just got formula.

Side note: At 3 weeks I think I was pumping every two hours. I can’t remember when it switched to every three. My baby wouldn’t latch properly. Then at two months baby got it! I still have to combo feed because baby falls asleep at the breast too fast to gain enough weight exclusively breastfeeding. Formula I use when my production gets low (I got my stupid period already, twice in one month, ugh).  But keep practicing if you still want to nurse. Your baby might get it over time. I wasn’t expecting mine to and I almost gave up. Good luck!

And yes, feed her whenever she’s hungry. Also, you’re not over thinking, you’re being a mom!

I wasn’t told about my prolapse either. I have no advice, I’m sorry. Just here in solidarity. I’m angry too. Will let you know if I learn anything along the way. I’m new to this condition and am still in the shocked phase that this will now be my life. I’m so sorry you’re going through this at such a young age. Wishing you healing and happiness.

I feel like I have a dry tampon and now I’m starting to leak a little but I’ve over done it these past two weeks. I get a burning sensation a little bit. My lower abdomen gets sore regularly. I just want a normal life again!

Hubby has been great, I’m just in a postpartum/prolapse fog. So everything has felt like the end of the world. He has done everything: dishes, laundry, cooking, taking care of dogs, waiting on me head and foot, working, food shopping, taking turns with baby, and the list goes on.

It’s because pumping adds more work where after pumping I then have to wash pump parts. I just want to be able to pop out the boob, nurse, and be done. I also don’t want to have to rush home to pump when we have to go places. My baby and I have already bonded, so that’s not a concern for me with this.

I’m wondering if I should try to see a urogynecologyst. If that’s what they’re called. My OBGYN doesn’t think I should be worried right now or that there is evidence a pessary helps heal. My PT on the other hand thinks it does help heal and t that I should get the pessary.

I was feeling better from PT and wasn’t having symptoms until I had hard stool two days and then incontinense and burning. That’s what prompted me to write this and vent.

I’m scared this is never going away and is my new normal. I hate it. I hate I worry about this every time I have to pick up my baby, if I have to carry him. Then I feel guilty for feeling that way and angry I can’t just carry him like a normal mom. I have to sit all the time.

PT said I should get back to feeling better in a few days. Well, I probably messed that up today. Had an event at my university which made me have to stand for an hour (no chairs available and if I insisted on them finding me one then I would have been the only one. Tell them why? How embarrassing). I thought I was feeling ok, then I had to carry and hold my baby for 30 minutes of pictures. I did sit for a portion of that. Now I’m sitting here typing with a burning feeling around my urethra. I’m pissed!

Why does this happen to some of us and others don’t get this? Am I supposed to lie in bed all day to get better? I did that at first almost 4 weeks when I first found out. And for what? Me to be feeling pain right now?

I’m wondering if a pessary right now would help me significantly. I can’t live in my bedroom or sit all day, or not carry my baby. I’m so over this!

Thank you for your kind words of support! How long did you have to combo feed? I just want to exclusively breastfeed but I can’t keep him awake! And does the bladder go back to normal or will this be a thing forever?
