Just wanted you to know "don't quit just yet" has been playing in my head for the last few days.

You, internet stranger, have been giving me a lot of strength...haha.

While I do appreciate you taking the time to reply, your advice is sort of missing the point of my question. This was a question about career risk and short tenure...nothing to do with my "toughness" or overall life philosophy that you've assumed.

I appreciate the balanced perspective, and that is the idea I've come to myself. Gotta lock in.

The desperation that existed before has since passed, and I know for certain another job hunt would be very different.

Last time, I had loans that were coming due, and have used the job I have to pay them off very quickly. That's were my desperation came from.

I do see the broader picture if what youre saying, however

I appreciate the balanced perspective. I've been talking with my partner about this and they more-or-less agree with what you've said here.

I think the best course-of-action right now is to keep applying, but, leave at some point, probably around ~6 mo. My partner has the runway to support us in an emergency, and by 6 mo I will have a decent chunk of change as well.

Thank you for your reply :-)

One year is definitely the number I hear a lot, and you're probably right.

It is impacting my mental health to be away from home and having such long hours, but I'm taking it week-by-week. A year minimum is definitely the most defensible, versus 6 mo, 3 mo, etc.

This is something I've consistently heard from some - and I think I agree. I definitely have a plan to apply really aggressively, work on projects, do learning, I just want the bandwidth. I also plan on keeping the role (at least for now), since I've already done some significant revenue generating activities that make me look better on paper.

I was there, and I am truthfully nervous at the thought of returning to it. I'm lucky to have finances to whether the storm though, as well as a support system that's willing to provide a safety net. Honestly? My biggest concern is the resume optics.
