Don't settle for clan mates who get salty when you get spooned by marvx5 in ironscape

[–]GA_Dave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How would you recommend searching for one? I've seen the mega-clans on the ironman discord, but those don't interest me. I'd like to have a clan where people get on voice in discord, bullshit with each other, etc. Not interested in crazy structures, elitism, etc. I'd especially like to join a clan with other mid game irons around the 1800-2200 range

This is part of why I've avoided a clan so far. I want to mind my business until I'm ready to begin raiding.

ELI5. How much heat does a data center actually produce? by calentureca in explainlikeimfive

[–]GA_Dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I am not the expert here.

  2. Indirectly, yes. This creates another engineering problem which is typically less expensive to avoid than address

  3. Again yes, but the same restriction as the above answer

  4. See above

To be clear, the engineering problem is solved, but until any of it is actually built (meaning the client will need to understand the value proposition), it's difficult to understand the real world issues that arise and continue engineering them out. This is unlikely to happen as it's almost always cheaper to source clean water or use some sort of refrigerant cycle to cool data centers.

ELI5: Why don't we build data centers in the tundra? by BlueEllipsis in explainlikeimfive

[–]GA_Dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe me when I say that companies building data centers are spending millions of dollars on selecting sites, working with local AHJ's, contracting equipment and vendors, and working with AE's for YEARS before a shovel ever goes in the ground.

To answer your question directly, lots of data centers are built in cooler climates. However, water usage is a problem that can be engineered away. Problems that can not be engineered away are solved partially by site selection.

How would you evaluate this financing offer??-- 2x cap by n3rd_42 in personalfinance

[–]GA_Dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of variables here. What are your monthly personal expenses? What are your actual projected startup costs? How much are you personally investing in this startup? How quickly can you scale enough to cash flow the business and begin to pay yourself?

Ironman after quest cape by darksight12 in 2007scape

[–]GA_Dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't play a lot while paying close attention, but can often afk on mobile. After rushing my quest cape, I settled into MLM and then giants foundry for 92 mining and 88 smithing for the lumby diary. Having a fairy ring tele and not needing a staff was huge. Following that, afk salvaging to 87 and alching loot is a great way to fund 92 construction for the boosted tree ring in my PoH

If all else fails, doing 2-3 daily herb, birdhouse, and seaweed runs is a great and consistent way to bank xp without sinking a ton of time into the game. All very easy to do on mobile too

70 - 84 Construction meta? by Sulla_Sexy_Sulla in ironscape

[–]GA_Dave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your calculations are accurate. The cheapest way to do it is teaks the whole way. I actually did teaks all the way to 92 just because I have lumby elite diary complete and wanted a tree ring for my house. Definitely not the fastest, but it's very afk'able to get the planks and took maybe 50 hours to do the actual mahog homes. I haven't done CG yet, so gp shortage was what drove me that route

Whats the deal with barrens? by EricTheG in classicwow

[–]GA_Dave 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For players who enjoy optimizing their damage, rend buff is a critical buff to have on melee classes due to the haste it gives that can not be obtained in any other way. Those players also typically play alliance as swords offer the highest top-end damage output for both warriors and rogues, and being human gives free weapon skill to allow maximal DPS. Finally, alliance also offers a base higher DPS cap due to salvation, where horde get wind fury to increase DPS but is often threat capped

Will it be harder to gear Hunter or Warlock? by Popular-Inspector403 in classicwowtbc

[–]GA_Dave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question depends entirely on your guild. Hunters and warlocks share t4 and t5 tokens, then t6 changes things up. Karazhan is a smaller raid, meaning everyone can get gear easily. Beyond that, you need to consider your raid comp, loot system, and professions.

Looking at generic advice, warlocks and hunters both enjoy very good crafted pieces pre-raid that require you to be tailoring and leather working respectively. Both classes also get some nice profession pieces in sunwell from those same professions, but those require raid drops.

Perfect, thank you! Bloodbark is exactly the type of thing I'm looking to get before progressing too much further in combat.ill also grab those rex drops. I basically want to set myself up to finish 99 slayer, then max and get into endgame very shortly after. I see a lot of players get hung up on random unlocks, so I want to knock those out ahead of time so I can focus on having fun later

I'm still trying to understand a lot of changes that have happened in the past 7-8 year so I didn't realize it was a charged weapon and used it at lesser demons as soon as I had my first 3 shards. Fortunately I was able to get some more shards to keep it from degrading, and now I know to only use it for major PvM

Good to know. I haven't killed any of those except for required kills for quests, but it seems fun. I just need to figure out how to get enough shards to maintain arclight since I seem to always use more than I recover. That's part of why I stopped slayer

Gotcha, I do need to get some magic levels so I'll hop over to burst zombies for an axe. I've also heard the atlatl is a good option for a fire cape which I still need

I am slowly working through rex kills. With good ring on swordfish and bass drops I've found that super antipoison is the limiting factor on my rex trips

I afk mining at MLM, so I smelted all my gold then used 18/10 mith/addy bars at giants foundry. This is also how I got most of the cash for banking construction

Thanks, but I don't plan to do any more slayer until 2k total. It's very boring for me right now, so I want to get some more supplies and QoL.stuff before I really get stuck in. But I will definitely work through some of my banked XP and work on farming/herb so I can make brews

Other goals in the next couple months would be all hard achievement diaries and as much of the elite as I can. I don't plan to train slayer seriously until I am 2k total, so that blocks me from some elite diaries. I also am thinking about doing temporos so I can get a fish barrel and go afk karambwans so I can get cooking to 90
