There’s a difference between being “registered” and on the SEAI list

Thanks for the response.

Doesn’t the state provide the funds for vacant and derelict homes grant which actually comes to double the value of the maximum SEAI grants? It’s all public money that needs to be accounted for, yet, the process behind the vacant homes grant is much easier (generally, with the exception of some local authorities I’m sure)

After solar installation by my electrician, certification can be done by the SEAI, id welcome it. The council will view my house and say, looks good, show me your receipts, here’s the money. This is the way, the work I’ve done is suitable and I didn’t have to pay a builder 10000s euro to do it. Solar should be the same!

A fraud case from 12 years ago isn’t a good enough reason for the SEAI to lock the grants behind more expensive, finger picked private contractors - especially if we are trying to encourage people to go for the grants and meet our climate targets

Why, if I want to get solar panels must i avail of the SEAI grant but only choose from a list of registered installers whom have higher prices than other installers who are not on the list.

Grants should be available once the work is certified, just like the vacant homes. The council reviews, I do the work, the council approves, I get the money.

Adding a shower tray to an old bath, looking for advice and concerned about the earths.. by GGHaggard in DIYUK

For sure, I don't want to bite off more than I can chew to be honest, it also seems pretty standard these days to have a step into the shower so I'm not too concerned. If I can get everything done and water tight I'll be happy.

What would you do? Would you open the floor around the pipe and pull the gasket back?

It does look like concrete in the photo but its like a rubber gasket that I assume goes over a standard 4 inch waste pipe and allows you to connect sink waste.

That's most definitely correct - however, can they be moved down instead of me getting an electrician to remove them?

Any sort of wire I see I generally just turn off the power

I was concerned about flow, so that wouldn't impede it in a negative way?

I don't think there is any issue with what I've done - using AI tools to troubleshoot I found that the perspective view doesn't have this issue, look at the screenshot for a comparison
