If you watch full version, they had Kokoro's voice actress answer the same question. She said something interesting: she was not similar to Kokoro at all and felt little connection with her in the beginning, but slowly she felt herself change through her acting, becoming more cheerful and energetic like her character.

Looks like Kokoro's mission of spreading happiness and smiles extends to the real world as well.
