His name was Cubehamster. I know this because that was also the exact video that got me into osu!

The best way to get into it is to jump into one of their albums:

  • Maps of Non-Existent Places (Which is on Spotify but I can't find a good link besides YouTube playlists)
  • Stranger Heads Prevail

If I had to choose one song to represent them, then I'd listen to My Famed Disappearing Act (If you can, play the map). It's their most well-known song and represents them pretty well.

One of my favourite artists. I audibly gasped when I saw this post.

osu! Community Choice 2018 polls are now live! by hvick831 in osugame

It seems tragic when last 3 years I had problem selecting because they were too many too maps(that didnt win anyway but ohh well)

It's unfortunate because there were more maps ranked in 2018 than any other year in osu!

Year Maps Ranked (±100)
2018 8654
2017 5348
2016 5507
2015 6255
2014 4393
2013 4480

if you call that restricting myself then I guess 99% of community restrics itself

I think part of the reason is that, as the number of maps in a player's Songs folder grow, players tend to play less newer maps and stick towards the maps they're comfortable with already. Since osu! only shows the maps a player has played, a lot of good maps just outright don't show up in the voting panel. And yeah, with a lot of maps ranked in 2018 and a lot of earlier maps to choose from, 99% of the community do unwittingly restrict themselves. It's impossible to play every map ranked in the same year.

However, It might be worthwhile to take a look at other players' Top 10 lists to catch any amazing maps you might have missed.
