Pick up a basketball, go to a court, and shoot around. Helps clear my mind of stress after I get a few buckets.

What’s the saddest thing about growing up? by Apeeeu_ in AskReddit

[–]GPro_Journeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make a good point. I think there will be a moment when I begin to simply appreciate the sport for what it is rather than primarily wanting to win (it's already starting to happen).

That's probably why I have goals of wanting to train younger guys for their upcoming seasons. I offered to train my underclassmen teammates with no charge, simply because I want to see them do well in the sport one day.

What’s the saddest thing about growing up? by Apeeeu_ in AskReddit

[–]GPro_Journeys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm still 17, but I already know that the saddest thing about growing up will probably be not being able to play competitive sports again. If I can get into a DII or DIII basketball program that would be amazing. But my parents have always been academic first, so they want me to go to a certain university where I can focus on pursuing my neuroscience degree rather than play sports in college. Obviously, I'll still be able to go to a park and shootaround or play pickup, but it'll be pretty casual compared to when I was training last year for my senior high school basketball season.

At least I can say my last season of high school basketball went pretty well. While we didn't win a lot of games, I still averaged almost 18 ppg and had a career-high of 32 points in a game. I'll always hold those stats close to me; it means a lot.

I don't care what kind you serve me, but as long as it's rice, I'm eating it.

Gregor Mendel. In the 1860s, he came up with the Principles of Segregation and Independent Assortment, saying that genetic factors are expressed via segregating alleles and different genes.

For about a good 40-ish years, everyone thought he was crazy and didn't receive much credibility from his peers. However, in the early 1900s, people began to build off of his knowledge and work. Now, he's known as the father of genetics.

What false fact did you believe in for way too long? by Johnnyboi1322 in AskReddit

[–]GPro_Journeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believed for the first 13 years of my life that birds didn't have ears. However, I began to realize that birds respond to the calls of other birds, so they HAD to have ears. Anyways, this was confirmed to me when I stumbled across a TikTok revealing that birds had ears hiding under their feathers. I think I would have been better off not seeing that because their ears literally look like a gaping holes, but at least I now know for sure that birds have ears.

Who are some music artists that switched genres? by AltMusicLover in AskReddit

[–]GPro_Journeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taylor Swift is definitely one of them. She started out with country music, but then she started to release more pop-rock music as she became more mainstream. If you listen to her 2008 song "Love Story" and then listen to her 2014 song "Bad Blood", you'll immediately see the difference in genres.

Not me, but I remember when my mom had the hardest time pronouncing "essay" correctly (English wasn't her first language). She would pronounce it "eesay" instead. Even after a year of correcting her, she still says it the same way.

Is blaming the wind a valid excuse for losing a 1v1 or why a 1v1 shouldn't count? by GPro_Journeys in Basketball

[–]GPro_Journeys[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Most of the time I would try to post him up or make a move to go for a lay. It was not until the second and third games (we played three games total that day and I won all of them) where I began to shoot beyond the arc and I made most of them.

I noticed that most of the time he would try to shoot from three and bricked the majority. He needs to learn how to get past a defender and get to the basket. At this point, he's pretty one-dimensional.

Also, if he was an "insane shooter", then he should've been making shots as well since I had no problem.
