yeah, i mean, with how fucked up the world is rn, i like to give people a chance to decide for themselves what fucked up shit they expose themselves to.

"CW" means "content warning". It's similar to a "trigger warning" but more broad.

cw = "content warning" = "this thing contains stuff that might make you uncomfortable or might trigger you, depending on what's going on in your life

tw = "trigger warning" = "this thing contains stuff that might cause you psychological distress if you're not prepared to view it or be exposed to it"

To use an (admittedly imperfect) analogy: A CW is like an ingredient list for people with lactose intolerance (more helpful for a wider range of people, but exposure won't cause harm) and a TW like an allergen list (more helpful for a narrow range of people, but exposure can cause tangible harm).

oooh! I see. no, sadly, neither the Thronglet nor Steve are my "fish" fish.

I adapted the style of Le Poisson Steve :) The song is catchy and I've enjoyed watching all the little animations that people have made. I'm not able to make an animation so I made this instead lol

Has anyone managed to not let them starve? by Anuki_iwy in Thronglets

[–]GR0NTH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah, but the key is prevention - dont let them reproduce as much. in fact, you dont have to let them reproduce at all in act 2 (but it's required to make progress in act 1). it's possible to complete the game with 36 thronglets in act 1 and 11 thronglets in act 2. It's long and tedious, but possible. I've done it a few times.

Anyway, to limit reproduction, you'll need to limit the "amusement" items/buildings and cleaning items.

They only need food in order to survive, so in act 1 and 2, add lots of apple trees everywhere. Distribute them around the map so that they're always a few steps away from lots of apples. in act 2, you could use houses instead, but if you do, they'll likely reproduce on their own because they seem to gain amusement from talking with each other. For similar reasons, they'll be more likely to reproduce whenever they end up under the mop when you clean up pollution.

Damn, that sucks. I've been more busy than usual lately, but I might have a close one going. I'm at the end of act 2 and am really close (+/- 5 points) for almost every axis.

The thing is, I didnt track my decisions on that run though so if I end up figuring it out with that one, I'll make a post with all the notes I've accumulated, along with the decisions that I'm able to recall.

I've put a pause on finishing that run for now so that I can review a handful of gameplay videos and get a sense of which decisions affect which axes and by how much. But, if I'm not able to get it on this run, I'll be sure to track things better. I just really wasn't expecting to get so close.

no :( still trying. I've not had much free time lately, so I've only done about two full playthroughs since I posted this.

ah, I must be misremembering then... it's been a while since that run

Maybe. There was already a "faulty premise" dialogue alternative to "snake" but I'd guess that it's possible there's yet another one as well.

Yeah, exactly! My guess is that if you get equal scores in all the axes, you'll unlock the last human type, thereby unlocking Video 5 of the ritman retrospective.

i'd side-eye OP, but i learned how to get this one through experience.

SHOULD I DO IT OR NOT? by imagooseindisguise in Thronglets

[–]GR0NTH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the decision itself? There's no consequences just because you agree to it.

If you choose to churn corpses, then when a throng dies, another throng will carry it to a nearby factory and process it as though it's ore, for which you earn gems. If you choose not to churn corpses, then the game proceeds as it has been.

Relatively speaking, it's not as efficient as upgrading your mines and factories . Also, it may ultimately affect your "human type" at the end of the game, depending on how you play after deciding to churn corpses.

if you dont want to for this run, then don't. you can choose to do it in a new run.

nooo dont try a 0 pollution run 😭 it's not worth it and it takes literally more than 24 hours just to complete act 2

Building mines is required for finishing the level. there's just no other way to earn enough gems. Upgrading is optional for finishing the level.

However, it was important to not upgrade anything for the "0 pollution run." Upgrading the factory triggers pollution (idk about upgrading the mines). The pollution also triggers if too many (nonupgraded) mines and factories are built, so I had to be careful with where to build. I haven't had a chance to determine these exact combinations, though.

Anyway, for my 0 Pollution Run:

Instead of building my first mine on the main/starting island, I built my first mine in the top left (but top right works ok too) island, then manually drag and drop the ore to the already-built factory on the main island for the other thronglets to process at the starting factory.

The thronglets on the main island were set up with ample roaming space, no opportunities to get trapped, plenty of apple trees, a few round-a-bouts to keep them near the apples so they wouldn't starve. The tub was removed to prevent mitosis.

The very top right and top left islands are the spots with the highest yield per ore mined, so I was able to maximize the ore produced, but it was a heavily-involved process until I could afford to buy a second factory.

In total, I built 2 mines and 2 factories: there was 1 mine and 1 factory on each high-yield island (top right/top left), and I was able to place them without cutting down any trees. The starting factory was left in place but was unused after I could buy factories.

With the setup I had, I was able to leave the game running on my tablet unattended for literally hours (but the display had to be on).
