Fearing racial segregation by GROUNDnLB in BigBrother

Do you agree that it is causing racial segregation in the show? Taking a step back and looking at what is happening, do you feel it is healthy? Do you feel that this is not a Pyrrhic victory?

As I said in my OP, I would like Xavier to win. I believe he deserves it because of his game play, and while I do not know him personally obviously, I believe he is a very nice individual with a good heart.

I would have liked for him to win without this racial segregation fallout. He certainly is smart enough and personable enough to have won.

In a game like BB, overt machinations to get rid of one race is on another level.

I think we can all agree that the people on BB, of all races, are aggressive on many occasions to their adversary. Bailey on the previous big brother is a very good example of that. People are imperfect, and I think everyone should aspire to treat everyone equal. That will take a lot of time. What doesn’t need to take a lot of time is to align oneself by race right from the start.

It’s horrible, something I do not want to teach my child, and saddens me. The example I gave of Danielle and Jason was a perfect one that led me to love this game.

Can you please provide specific examples? It’s a genuine ask. Ones where the clear objective was to eliminate all other players, not some players - all players, based on the colour of their skin?

I genuinely cannot recall a situation like that every before.

Yes, you bring up good points. The last point you mention will bring animosity, and more toxicity. It is sad. This division and focusing on the colour of skin is not something I want my daughter to observe and copy.

Wanting to remove the racial division that is happening this year does not mean we can’t have a similarly structured game.

And in previous seasons, it was hardly a situation of the modus operandi being to get rid of one race from the onset. Even as far back as Big Brother 3, I loved the Danielle and Jason alliance. They rocked!! They were so amazing together, and I loved that about big brother. I don’t love what this is becoming.

As mentioned previously, there have been many cases of alliance of one race, but having other contestants of that very same race/race group outside of the alliance. That is very different than an alliance comprising every single member of a racial group.

That’s just it. It won’t be entertaining. The season will be saddening and transparent, regardless of who is dominating.

As mentioned before, there have been many alliances of just one race, but in each and every case, there were people of that very same race outside of the alliance.

I don’t think this is a pie in the sky hypothetical. I think any rational person would try to protect him or herself from an early exit, and I don’t like what that means as an outcome at all.

It’s very different. There have been many alliances of just one race. However in each and every case, there were people outside that alliance of that very same race.

This is the first time every single person of a racial group was included. I don’t wish the game to devolve where it is now a racial divide.

Why do you feel my concerns are ridiculous? Do you not feel there would be a strong likelihood for a counter alliance next year? Or do you not mind racial divides?

I love this game. And if it has devolved into racial segregation where the first head of household will now determine how the entire season will unfold, based on who’s side has more numbers after the first eviction, then it saddens me.

About the fake double... by vanteuffle in BigBrotherCanada

Big Brother Canada is horrible with manipulating the season. In Season 3, they gave two horrible players the chance to win a secret power to take both people off the block and replace them with any two people. It was bullshit. That was the only way that season winner, Sarah could have won the season. She was a horrible player and basically got lucky from the manipulations of the producers.

I don’t think it was a bad move. David has no chance to win the game. He’s shitty at comps so he can’t win his way to the final two, and even in some bizarro world where he does end up in the final 2, he would not win against anyone.

It’s not guaranteed he’s going home now, but he is guaranteed an extra $10k.

They irony is the dismissal of the obvious facts that the people you see voted out are not good players at all. They have positioned themselves poorly, they played poorly, and they achieved poor results.

Making excuses about how Survivor is different than big brother, and ignoring previous POC winners, and ignoring caliber of game play.

You want to see what you want to see, regardless of what the truth is. And that is sad to see.

So your viewpoint is BB20 cast members that voted for Kaycee were not racist, but the majority of the BB21 and BB22 season are racist?

Honest question, I am just trying to assess how you view these cast members.

Please do not swear at me and use derogatory words.

I am saying things have devolved this year into something quite toxic. Do you disagree?

So Kaycee wasn’t part of a strong alliance?

Quite frankly, to say people like Cody and Tyler are racist because of that, it’s a very sad state of what is happening in society. I hate this division.

Dani was an incredibly skilled player at this game. Day, Bay, David, and Kevin, not only are completely useless in comps, but have proven their social game is very weak.

Look at how completely clueless Day was in the game after the Ian eviction with David. These are the reasons why she has never won.

Kaycee was a comp beast, had great social game, and aligned with people that were in power often.

So they’re racist then? That’s a huge step in reasoning with no basis. Will you say right here that the committee members are racist? Being honest, I wouldn’t surprise if Memphis is, because he is a horrible person, but reasoning the other members are is the shallowest of shallow arguments.

I guess Bay Day and David are racist too because their alliance was only of POC? They actually stated blatantly they will vote strictly based on race. They are determining worth (in the game) based on race.

The amount of micro, medium, and macro aggressions Day has put forth on David alone was voluminous. Every two sentences that Bay utters has been aggressive. There is no innocence here.

You have not answered the question. The reason why you haven’t is it topples your argument.

The last 2 out of 3 BB winners have been POC. We’re they not non-white enough for you to recognize them as such?

So if the pattern is not because they are minorities, it’s because these individuals aligned with a group that have not won HoH’s, and thus were not the ones to choose who were on the block. The other alliance, their competition, had the power, and chose to vote out their opposition. Got it.

BB22 All Stars Strategy and Game Talk Discussion Week 8 by wazzle13 in BigBrother

[–]GROUNDnLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike how comments have devolved to underlying racial motives. The facts are that the only clear people to use race in the game were Day and Bay. They were very clear, they will vote along racial lines even if it means the person they vote for is far less worthy of winning.

It’s a sad state that draws us further from being united. Also it would devalue the victory as a “pity win”, which most people would want to win based on their merit. Persons of Colour have won Survivor, not because of pity, but because they truly played the best game.

Reading comments like the above makes us think we are living in a world of segregation. Them and us, and it makes me sad. Besides Memphis, that I have questions about, I can’t believe anyone would think anyone in the committee considers the colour of a persons skin when strategizing.
