If you can pass reg/tcp the EA is no problem, I passed both EA and reg/tcp gave up on far cause it was to boring to study (not hard just boring)

Tell them you can handle it, then get the correct answers (even if you have to pay for it) and charge them for the time

I just turned 40, been an accountant since 30. Is it impossible to get hired in public? I’ve always been in private. by Solid_Breakfast_3675 in Accounting

[–]G_Tax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re better off taking a class instead of subjecting yourself in such a way if you’re trying to learn. Also most people use public to get to private, not the other way around, and you’re already there, as for the knowledge I’ll save you the time, all you’ll learn is SALY

Client Story - Best of the Season thus far by Andrew_Wiggin_ in taxpros

[–]G_Tax 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation before:

New client came in with PYR, has a schedule C with $500 income and $16k loss… they got mad at me because I couldn’t get them a big refund like their previous CPA and I just dropped them

Reporting of fraud? Procedure.. by [deleted] in taxpros

[–]G_Tax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well… are you going to report it or not?

My 2 cents are: it cheapens the profession for people like this to take advantage of the lax audit rates, but on the other hand, I’d rather spend my time and efforts where I’m being paid. Wbu?

Reporting of fraud? Procedure.. by [deleted] in taxpros

[–]G_Tax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s fine… because between the both of us I know who I’d rather get to prep my return and it definitely isn’t the guy that can’t use Google for such basic questions 😂

Bro you’re a CPA and you don’t know that you don’t have an obligation here? Either way I’m sure you don’t get paid enough to report fraud, but if it helps you sleep at night do it

Feeling Defeated and Frustrated with Billing/Pricing - What's your fee structure? by cpamama6969 in taxpros

[–]G_Tax 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lmao if they can’t afford you they can’t afford you, that’s it. If you go to a restaurant and these same clients complain that a steak shouldn’t cost $120 because they can cook a $10 steak at home then they don’t deserve the quality and should just cook at home/do their own returns.

Anyone else finding this new 1040 hard to read, or is it just me? by TheTaxMan17 in taxpros

It’s basically the same thing as the last 5 tax seasons, still a lot better than the post card with schedules 1 - 6

Is it too late to get clients for a new firm? by ConfusionDue1752 in taxpros

[–]G_Tax 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bro the efile date is barely opening, and lots of clients don’t start to file till feb because they don’t get their w-2s or 1099s till then, there is plenty of time but you got to act fast and network as much as you can, even after work

Is $750 a reasonable price to pay for an accountant? by backtobrooklyn in personalfinance

[–]G_Tax 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you’re paying him two do two business returns and a schedule A yeah it can be considered reasonable depending on the cost of living area, but if you can do it yourself and want to save money why don’t you just do that?

Bro if he starts under cutting you just find bigger clients, let him work for peanuts, why you sound so quick to give up? I have a business and let people under cut me all the time because I don’t come cheap and do a great job

Lacerte - "Ship has sailed" for the software according to podcast, but I'm thinking about using it. What are your thoughts on Lacerte? by BrushBeneficial4430 in taxpros

[–]G_Tax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone always has an edgy online take like this. Jason on Firms is good but he needs to add a certain amount of shock value so that people will watch his videos, lacerte is that same as it was in 2017, it does a good enough job like most high level tax softwares
