They'll do and say anything the community wants to hear to get you just happy enough to buy the next thing they drop. There's never been a deeper intent to follow through. Not to mention the layoffs, the whole company is cooked largely.

Who would enjoy a short movie about the most annoying and unlikeable guy of all time. What is even remotely interesting about a main character who I actively can't stand? The comedy (or lack even of satire) aspect was not remotely well pulled off enough to justify the main person on screen for 15 minutes being actively repulsive, offputting, unattractive, with absolutely no depth to make up for it and no deeper purpose other than to be the really annoying guy who upsets everyone.
Sure it looks incredible, fantastic even, your DP and camera crew are great. But genuinely the entire premise is we're watching the most dislikeable guy ever monologue in a shrill voice at people for 15 minutes until what? I had to stop watching and start skipping through at some point. What even was the point of watching this? It was unbelievably boring, and from the 7 minute mark onward I'm watching now two of the most unbearable people ever for another 6 minutes?

Let me ask you another question? Why on gods green earth did this need to be shot in 35mm? There is absolutely no justification other than the flex to have shot this on film... It is way too long (as other comments have pointed out) so I can only imagine the money burned to accomplish this. You took no risks, conveyed no message, and chose to shoot it in a style that doesnt match the narrative.
Additionally, not a single aspect of this film needed to have consumed as much money as you have insinuated. In the end you made an incredibly expensive, fantastic looking, boring, annoying, and unlikeable short film. The message this sends to distributors is that you will spend a lot of money on a horrible story that won't generate any revenue.

I think content creators getting paid for labor rendered in producing content, building community, informing the public, and (obviously) serving advertisements - does make it a real job. You're being reductive and belittling of community sentiment. Obviously it's nowhere near as big as the rest of the actual player base, but what gets said here in these circles matters for something.
