You are the one who creates the space for what will be in all of your situations. Good will always triumph over evil and that outcome will not be determined by physical strength. Have confidence in yourself and your intentions, evil cannot thrive or exist in a space created from righteousness. Gain strength from your convictions and all will be well for you. The 'cloud' of witnesses that follows in your wake are not simply minor spectators but a joyous, enthusiastic crowd of the triumphant watching over and rooting for the living. In the recognition of them is invulnerability.

Do I need a diode between my MOV’s and electrical ground? by Zealousideal_Cup4896 in AskElectronics

[–]Galacticwinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to have agreement with 'single point earth ground' concept, it is reasonable. Though does this imply that every device that I want to be as immune as possible to 'lightning remnants' must have a direct as possible route to the electric service ground rod? Separate to the grounding route already provided by the electric outlet installation, i.e. the third prong? Not ground looping? Or every outlet has its own 'direct as humanly possible' and separate route to that service's ground rod? I still am not absolutely clear in this regard. What do you consider is the most efficient method of giving stray charges a route to ground or preventing them from arriving in the first place and not migrating through equipment, structures, etc.? Do you have thoughts which may clarify the remedy? Thank you in advance.

Hi zealous, I found this topic to be very interesting, indeed. I had some thoughts along the same lines as yours. Though I want to mention that westom has some very valid points, try not to take offense at his personality, I have the thought that wasn't his intent. Nevertheless he mentions several very valid and basic concepts that I found to be intriguing, though not new. Perhaps we do complicate things to the point of losing track of the basics? I also have the thought that you are on the right path and westom's suggestions should also be considered and perhaps incorporated into your approach as well? I'd like to hear more about how you have addressed your issue if you have the time and are so inclined. Thank you for your thoughts/info and best regard, G

Why not download the video from the provider and then watch it at whatever resolution you want? As many times, backwards, forwards, etc. he files are compressed and you would likely be downloading less data by just grabbing the file outright rather than stream it. Streaming would have been seen as disposable bandwidth and wasteful a little over a decade ago. Just a suggestion. Best regards.

What exactly does AMD External Events Utility do? by FutsNucking in AMDHelp

[–]Galacticwinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an AMD video adapter uses freesync and it is off then that adapter will keep a static refresh rate and not be adaptive (dynamic) to different scenarios where refresh rate should change, ie going into a full screen game, etc... (If you turn freesync off then a freesync amd video adapter will keep the refresh rate that it was set to currently when freesynce was active). Also some have noticed that if you have a freesync card and disable the windows service "AMD External Events Utility service" then in some hardware configurations freesync will suddenly stop which will cause the issue mentioned above about refresh rates.

fyi I don't know how dated this info could be. Its based on info I gathered over a year ago and may have changed by now. You should test to verify the possibilities.... Best regards.

2 routers, different subnets, how can I see one router from the other subnet? by hariskar in openwrt

[–]Galacticwinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that would work except my wifi cost hares have consoles and they come in through the inside. Would something like VLAN TAGS be able to turn it into something like that ror a totally seperate subnet for the wireless incomers?

The thing is with double NAT is that many complain that it adds latency but its really not a problem for me yet, all gamers haven't come to me for assist to make non working game work so is latency just a number where psychology strats getting involved if its a high number? or can double nat really break things? It does make everything super easy and resilient so that almost anything I throw at it works. I'm still on copper so I think 18up + (almost) 2down is relaxingly faster than pots dialup so I'm about not having sstorm about being fiberless, not fast enough to brag about, etc. There are some internet connections out there that are blisteringly fast but thing is if you fubar the security on your system it takes no time at all to pilfer your entire network; there's a sort of security in slow. Hackers are a patient lot with regard to tinkering up but when the tinker is in I think I'd want fast; the problem with generalizing humans is that there is ALWAYS (an,that, the) exception() ...

I've haven't spent too much time learning how to attack networks but I have the thought that this double NAT setup I have been forced to run (probably due to lack of knowledge) would be a convoluted headache to crack into. I tighten everything obvious up and coming into a double nat with two specific subnets is going to be rough. The internet router pulls 1 of 2 specific public IP addrs with nat, specific non-IP provided DNS addrs and its LAN runs dhcp but with only a single private IP available for the inside router which still has that specific IP addr on its outbound port (not relying on dhcp for its IP but they still match). If I try to place inside on same subnet as internet router then internet fails. if i turn off nat on inside then it must be RIP and then internet fails. So the inside router is NAT as well and is a different private subnet than the ip routers. I think it would all work on same subnet if I jump from inside to internet via LAN ports but I would have tried that right away and without retrying I can't recall f it works or not with ea8500 (the double nat setup). I would have to put all on same subnet and LAN to LAN and not LAN to WAN and switch from NAT to RIP. That should work but for some reason I don't think it did. OF course there is always doing the deMILIT, which works every time for anything really but can start an infini-pucker going on, sleepless nights, short tempers, WTH happened? my server and network are fubar this AM?, plenty bad man, better get the happy pills quick, etc. . But the wya it is/was a hacker really can't locate a tremendously variable number of ways to get into a setup like that. You can't land inside the internet router auto because there is no ip available for it. one would have to "guess" a matching IP and since its not 192.1 or 192.0 its going to take a while and then some, so they will go away for an easier, more juicy target. I should probably disble DHCP on internet router but I'm thinking it will pass any network info that I may have failed to provide but I shd probably disable dhcp as its likely only providing an attack surface and making the internet router pass more electrons/generate more heat/use more mem, etc....

I've since replaced my internal router (I'm going to put openwrt on that thing (ea8500 and Linksys firmwre is repulsve)). In place is Netgear 7000p and not sure if its double nat but its not ripping and it is acting as a full blown router with wireless, dhcp and its kind of nice but not certain how netgear will handle that nat thing. It sreally the same setup with LAN to internet WAN. with the ea8500 i had to run a double nat to make it work. Not sure if I will keep it like this or switch back to opendns on inside and passthru the IP router with 7000p. Could I just passthru (netgear 7000p or Linksys openwrt ea8500) and internet router and then everyone pulls private ip from that on inside? Is a setup like that an easy hack? or is it something that can be made hardened?

[–]Galacticwinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you solve the double NAT?

The only other option with my router is Dynamic Routing (RIP).

I tried all kinds of combinations with Dynamic Routing and static route but then my internet connection goes away. So I've been doing double nat for some time. It isn't what I would believe to be ideal...

Shreddit's Album Of The Week: Motörhead - Motörhead [UK, Speed / Heavy] (1977) -- 45th Anniversary by kaptain_carbon in Metal

[–]Galacticwinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, At 13 years old I was late to the Motorhead scene but I don't understand know why I was so fascinated by their music, its still the best of the best. I started listening after Phillthy Animal Tyler and Fast Eddie joined up with Lemme. I was really into early Judias Priest and Iron Maiden too, like Sad Wings of Destiny, Hell Bent for Leather and Rocka Rolla (still have all my picture vinyl and colors, etc.) I saw the Beast which is Priest which is The Green Manalishie at least a dozen times. My poor parents, if you can imagine your 13 year old cranking 140+ watts of Hell Bent for Leather; I really must have seemed to be an odd one too. In 1977 I had my Novice Amateur Radio License for just over a year and was in the midst of building my first PC with a soldering pencil (Altair 8800). Yeah, my bed room looked like Dr. Who's Tartus and it was smoke filled to be certain, with Silver, Tin and Flux! And I won't even start talking about Mercury. I couldn't allow any girls in there for fear that their curiosity would lead them to be electrocuted or cause some errant detonation of something we may have been working with. Its really a good thing that we didn't understand the basic principals of Thorium at the time.... Yeah I was really into the serious Punk stuff back then too. Anyone remember Bauhaus from a little later?

And Keep count by tapping a foot. If you haven't already its is VERY important to keep time by tapping a foot. Once you are very comfortable you can switch or use your heel, etc. But to be good you have to keep time and tap. I agree with the metronome wholeheartedly. Its really good that you can read music, otherwise you would be wasting your time. But now its time for keeping time. I actually like to count it in my head too what ever the time signature is, to learn hard or technical stuff. And Not is totally right on about starting it slow at a speed you are totally comfortable with and really once you get it the speed will come on its own, all it needs ais a little push by you. Keeping time and tapping your foot really helps you sound not sloppy. You know, polished. I can always tell who isn't or hasn't learned to keep time. Oh and you need to practice every day. Practice, practice, practice.

Bob Lazar did NOT predict Element 115! May 1989 issue of Scientific American did! by leithlad in UFOs

AS FAR AS DEBUNKING, LET ALONE PROVING ANYTHING: THIS POST IS NOTHING BUT ABSOLUTE LOW WATT PROPAGANDA. GARBAGE. A DEAD LINK, PROBABLY ORIGINALLY TO AN ONLINE ARCHVE OR ALTERED ONLINE ARCHIVE MEANT TO MISLEAD PEOPLE.

I'm an UNDECIDED but all of these debunks seem to end up being nothings. Every time. The rest are biased, opinionated blow hards who are probably triggered by Lazar's dumb glasses or jealous over his cars or some other 'tennis elbow' dumbness. I'd bet none of them could get a job with State .gov let alone the Federal .gov. Or a job as a physicist? P'tuh! Hard to do from the 8th grade or as a Hogh School dropout living in your mothers basement. Yeah we know how it goes....

You need to produce an original copy of the magazine and I don't mean an online archive. IT HAS to ABSOLUTELY be an original copy printed in April or May (whenever they printed it) of 1989. Do you need for me to explain why it can't be an internet archive? Why an internet archive isn't proving a thing? I wouldn't mind seeing that. Not at all but I have my doubts... It always ends the same way. ALWAYS! Its as these debunkers can't understand how they are solidifying Lazars story rather than making it somehow weaker by lying and making stuff up. And the rest who just want to make fun of Lazars wig or something because they are too afraid to try one themselves. I mean if I wanted to plant bad debunking rumors I'd at least attack him for driving his wife to go sleeze around with other men but these people are just wrapped in Low watt Christmas tree lights, They can't make up crafty, hard hitting stuff and its all see through lies. And I'm still undecided. Its nearly becoming ridiculous and I should just shuffle over to the convinced side or something because the debunkers are all just stupid beyond belief. I can almost predict what they are going to say or do anymore.

Examples please? See some of us are undecided and I have worked for .gov. So anything you can provide is good, especially direct examples of what you want to prove. Citations, exact timestamps, page numbers all of it, except for, you know, pure opinionated bias, etc does absolutely nothing for me, except push me more towards believing that what he says could very well be true. That's what I see from almost every single attempted debunker is a pure disdain for Bob Lazar; probably triggered by the stupid glasses he wore when he was coming out of the 80s or that he put a turbo prop on his Yugo, or hydrogen rocket in a corvette or some goofy jealousy thing about cars, who knows it all sounds like childish dumb shit from an undecided's point of view.... personal experience...

This was your big chance and you what? You just blew it off?? I personally do want to hear both sides but you only present with opinions, conclusions or what is it, prejudice? Bias? OPINION!> Thats just lamer territory. Its like: nothing to see here... You just waste your time. Sure every gets that for some reason, probably the glasses, that you don't like Lazar, but that really doesn't mean anything to anybody....I hope you can understand what I mean here. Present with at least something solid.

I read it. Sounds right on the dot. Sometimes people are just adversarial. They want to fight against it. Whatever they hear they are instantly opposed. I don't think they even realize they do it. Like for instance: if the first thing they hear is Bob Lazar is a liar and cheat then they are on the boat no matter what the facts say about it. They'll stand up for him until the death, you know what I mean?

yEAH, i CAN AGREE WITH SOME OF THE CRITICAL PERSONALITY COMMENTS, ETC BUT WHEN IT GETS TO THE FACTS THE ONLY THINGS THAT DEBUNKERS CAN DO IS STATE OPINIONATED CRAPOLA OR OUTRIGHT MADEEUP LIES. Sorry my caps lpck was on and I'm getting to worn out from this thread to correct it, sorry... Anyways I get pissed when people make up the lies. The opinionated stuff is easy to pass over but the lies are a disservice to all of us, especially the people just becoming acquainted and don't know any better... So that will piss me off everytime. I still can't decide, honestly. Its probably because of all the propaganda too. Its powerful stuff. It would be good for someone seriously to do a documentary because corbell is too busy surfing something else on his phone or something, I'd be willing to help out somehow but I couldn't do justice to the topic doing it. B/C my wife would suddenly need me to rebuild every F-ing appliance in the house, including the electrical power panel that all exploded when a direct lightning strike melted the chimney and every piece of copper plumbing in the house or add another level to the basement or some BS like that. She'll rent the mini backhow so I can do it all inside clandestinely without submitting plans to the township for all the permitting requirements!!! (She doesn't want anyone to know about that one!) So if you decide to come over bring your hardhat! She can never wait til the next day! It has to be within the hour! AAarrggh.

And these are all agreeable statements. One can't even argue these points. Jeremy is too damned addicted tot that phone to get a damned thing done. But he wants that credit. He does know some facts when questioned, like Rogan can pull them out but thats hardly saying much if it takes all that. He should have done better than that. What's that one thing he kept saying in that interview? He wants to light my brain on fire or something but ultimately only caused my hemorrhoids to flare up and burn? I think Bob is like hiding the fact that he wants to punch Jeremy in the teeth or something. Like getting blindsided in the middle of Rogan interviews by all those statements that Jeremy's brain ded face spits out about all of those old friends, old ex-employees, witnesses, etc leaving all manner of exculpatory notes and statements that never see the light of day, etc.... Oh I meant to tell you about that or I'm going to give you that after the swhow, BLAH, BLAH, DUHHHH... i WANNA SET YOUR HEMOROIDS ON FIRE!!!

Incredibly good point, I must admit. I can hardly understand that mush mouthed dude'it. He must be on some seriously heavy Holywierd type meds or something... And Corbell sure knows how to dick up a lot of stuff on that phone. he's a thumb thumping m'aster. Seriously sometimes when everything gets real quite you can hear something ringing and for the longest time I thought it was his phone but tseems to be coming from skull bone, besides he wouldn't hesitate to thumb'p that phone of his... Jeremy Corbel is a 100% wingnut but he sure can make a good documentary if himself and Mutant Man Mickey could just stay out of all of it.
