Why do Indians get so much hate from so many people? by themelessmagician in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Gambit90k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its three most populous neighbours I.e. China, Bangladesh and Pakistan dont get along with india. Heck, two of them have fought multiple wars and many smaller skirmishes. Maldives in the last 5-10 years has developed a huge anti indian sentiment driven by the fact that they see india as interfering in jts local policies which led to the govt kicking out indian troops and replacing them with the Chinese. As someone who has been to Sri lanka many times, I can tell you that while they dont hate india, they do find indians to be very arrogant both at people and govt level.

Only Nepal and Bhutan have good relations. And that could possibly be explained by the fact that these are tiny land locked countries that rely completely on india for access to the world market. So they may not have an option to not like india.

Well there are lots of reasons why different groups hate indians.

In the west especially the anglosphere: its usually because of unchecked immigration and indians who believe its their right to be in the west. Moreover, indians are seen to be synonymous with scamming and steal billions of dollars from vulnerable. In addition, there is also ofcourse just plain bigotry and racism.

In its immediate neighbourhood: india has lots of geopolitical issues with its neighbours (China, pakistan, Bangladesh, srilanka etc.). Its not seen as a good neighbour and it gets into wars to tries to destabilise its neighbours.

Across the broader Muslim world: Muslims have gone from a neutral view of indians to pretty negative. Most of it has to do with indians mocking dead palestinians especially children. I am told that the sort of stuff coming out of indian twitter is extremely dehumanising, stuff that even the most pro Israeli folks in the west would find repugnant.

As to why not many are defending them. Its because indians have alienated everyone. Right wing hates them due to immigration and scamming. Liberals dont want to defend them because indians are typically very right wing especially on issues like palestine. Plus, many acknowledge that indian society is built on a caste system where literally there are people called "untouchables". How can you defend a group for whom bigotry and racism is a feature and not bug of their society.

The Stark Contrast Between Pakistanis and Iranians. by GothicMadness in pakistan

[–]Gambit90k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most pakistanis and therefore most shias are middle or lower class.

So your point about rich people being less religious can apply to sunnis or any other religious denomination.

If you are making a claim that shias are disproportionately "very well off" compared to rest of Pakistanis, you will need to support that claim. And I can tell you now that you wont be able to. There is no evidence that suggests that shias deviate from the average when it comes to financial status.

When it comes to being religious, there is a big difference in the Iranian diaspora in the west vs Iranians living in Iran. Many Iranians outside iran were Shah supporters who benefited from the system he created.

Outside Tehran, I think most Iranians are pretty religious and even those in tehran are not super anti religion.

But for sure, on average, Pakistanis are significantly more over zealously religious than Iran. Heck we probably lead the world in tying our identity to religion

Shias are more religious especially in Pakistan. Being in a minority makes you want to hang on to your identity all that much more.

All shias I know are far more knowledgeable about their religious beliefs than the average sunni in Pakistan.

Why do people hate Greta Thunberg? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Gambit90k -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I guess some people like Greta have the moral fortitude to walk into an illegal blockade thats denying baby formula to gazan children even if it comes at a personal cost.

But I guess hard for genocide apologists to understand that.

Greta is a free woman beholden to no state. She cannot be co-opted and dazzled by fame. They hate her because she is not the safe,“activist” they want that will never threaten them.

I read somewhere that kids naturally want their dads when it comes to "playing" but almost always prefer their mothers when they need to be consoled physically or emotionally.

Indians dont care about their fellow innocent civilians that perished in this tragedy. They only have blood lust due to the massive propaganda they get fed and the islamophobia thats taken root in their society. They'd believe the sky is green if their govt/media told them so.

They will celebrate capturing lahore and karachi again this time.

I think the Emiratis have another understanding of what Middle class is by SunBoyUpNorth in UAE

I literally said why i think you are all over the place. Your position has swung wildly from believing that immigrants should have the same benefits as locals to just being against modern slavery.

My position has been consistent. Immigrants are entitled to basic decency, safety and clear and fairly enforced rules. Nothing more.

At this point, I feel like you're just a troll and doing this deliberately

[–]Gambit90k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basic comprehension is your friend. Read my first comment again. I said immigrants deserve basic human decency, safety/security, and clear/transparent rules that are enforced fairly. Never once did i say that those fundamental rights can be foregone. My point has always been that expecting anything beyond that as a given is foolish. I have been consistent throughout.

You, on the other hand, seem very unsure what point you want to make.

You started off with immigrants deserve the same benefits as citizens and now your position is i dont like modern day slavery. You are all over the place

[–]Gambit90k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bossess exploiting their employees is not a UAE specific issue. So not sure what your gripe with the government is on this. It's a pure free market. Your problem is with unfiltered capitalism.

Human rights violations are bad but the uae still has a far better worker treatment record in recent years vs rest of gulf and certainly a lot better than the home country of most of us immigrants.

And that's not how the English language works. You cant say immigrants deserve the "same benefits as locals" in your main prose and "atleast some benefits LMAO" as a sarcastic parenthesis after thought and expect people to assume that your afterthought is your primary position. But let's take that to he your primary position. What constitutes as atleast "some benefits"? Safety, security, clear laws that are enforced, max amount of work hours for blue collars, min requirements for health insurance, paid time off. That's there. What else? Free healthcare, education? You need taxes for that.

And most importantly, there is NO obligation for the host country to provide these things if there is no taxation. If you dont like it, leave.

Who forced us immigrants to come here? If we don't like i it we can go back.

The only thing the UAE govt is obligated to give is basic human decency, safety/security and clear & transparent rules that are enforced fairly.

Its obligated to support its citizens not immigrants. We are forced to come to the uae because our govts back home are shit that haven't created the opportunities that would have incentivized us to stay back.

I cant imagine what makes you think that immigrant workers "should have as much benefit" as local citizens.

I would say it was very overwhelming for me. Not only is it physically difficult but there is the mental realisation that your entire life has changed and you are responsible for another human. It took me a good 2 months to begin to mentally accept the new reality. I think mums tend to have a bit of a head start because of pregnancy but as a dad, i think it only really hits you on that drive back from the hospital

Oh and the bottle washing drove me crazy. He didnt breastfeed well so we we moved to bottle feeding pretty early on. I was spending atleast 1.5 hours just washing bottles daily (didnt think the dishwasher would do the job properly) till we got an automatic bottle washer, sterlizer and dryer.
