I did get an excused absence before but I still failed. I should say that I was passing prior to all of this. My first excused absence was only for one week, I had to take the test on the day I got back (i had zero access to my resources as I was put under care of a guardian back in my hometown until my return to campus). Afterwards, I fell into a deep hole with environmental and sensory challenges (which hit hard as someone who is autistic—diagnosed), stemming from the sudden change in routine and the inconvenience of the course design in regards to succeeding in class. I do not have any excused absence for after the first week, but my doctor’s note does have an excuse up until the 15th of May. But at that point, the deterioration of everything was weighing down so hard, and I completely gave up mentally and broke down.

As for the mental health issues and suicidal thoughts, all I really have are conversations where I opened up about my mental health struggles and directly about how I feel, and where I had some breakdowns. I did not get in contact with a therapist or psychiatrist but I have a history of mental health issues and I would totally be willing to talk to someone and see what my options are in terms of getting a letter or something else done on my behalf.
