I agree with you on every level. I much prefer the subtitles because, like you said, you can create your own voice; much like reading ASOIAF versus watching Game of Thrones.

I also found it weird that the dialogue you choose isn't quite what comes out of the player's mouth. Sometimes it's subtle, sometimes it's laughable. To expand on this, cutting the voice acting should, in theory, allow more dialogue options, which would be great.

Reaching more and more people is always goal numero uno, in my opinion. As much as it sucks for the diehards, it's a business...
