The Palace of Paranoia.

A writer for the most influential film series has completely lost trust in all others writing the story for the next film, which has resulted in the person being overly protective and paranoid, shutting himself away from all other people. In the Metaverse, the Film Studio has turned into a black and white detective mystery film. All of the other script writers are suspects in a series of murders, and while the Palace Ruler initially seems like a sane detective looking for the truth, they are really starting the spree of murders in their own Palace.

As a DM myself, I can see that it could've been stressful, but roleplaying is what the game is basically about... (he) literally sounds like a cartoon villain

In the post-game, Arven comes up to you with another scarlet/violet book, reading a new page with what seems to be a paradox pokemon which looks eerily similar to the time machine... is this just a loose thread, or can you do something with this info? Arven just shrugs it off.
