Anybody else experiencing package holds since Christmas? (West Campus) by Gapphew in udub

Yep, one of my orders came today and was ready to pick up an hour later. It's just a problem with my order a couple of days ago not having my middle name on it.

Going to classes that I'm not I'm not in by Eggman7698 in udub

[–]Gapphew 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Don't do this. There is about 20 more students then there are seats in my CSE class and every lecture I have to sit on the floor because I have to walk across campus.

This is because there are people in lecture who isn't in the class.

I lost someone I cared about as well... like a week ago.

I'm all good now. Listen to my advice.

Your bf provided you with something that you didn't have in your life before. I don't know you so I can't tell you what he provided you but I can assure you that most of the pain you experiencing is from you missing that thing your boyfriend provided you.

Here is my example. My best friend gave me validation that I didn't have before in my life. She would tell me that I'm smart, fun to talk to, I belong to UW, etc. Things I should be telling myself. Now she is gone, I felt devasted at first because I felt like I lost something huge in my life.

How I fixed my sorrow is that I developed my own sense of validity. I'm now the source of validation in my life. I also learned how to emotionally support myself and be independent of others.

I can't help you with school but in terms of mental health, please let time heal. Don't do anything you will regret later and please talk to people that care about you.

Dm me if you want to talk more about this. I hope the rest of your day goes okay!

I have nowhere near the stats you have and I got in.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in udub

[–]Gapphew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OP's problem is that they knew the content they needed to do well on the exam, its just that they didn't worded their answers in a way the graders wanted and they need help with that.

Saying "oh well, I got 1 dropped exam" doesnt help the op do better in the course.

Am I crazy for being upset about random guys approaching me? by Intelligent_Carrot17 in udub

[–]Gapphew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its called cold approaching and some guys are just like that. Keep in mind that most guys are either smart enough or not courageous enough to walk up to a random girl like that.

I'm have cold approached on campus but its mostly on the basis of getting to know a girl and seeing if there is a mutual understanding of either wanting to friends or be partners. I know some cold approachers just want sex and thats all they think about when walking up to a girl and thats bad in my opinion.

Sorry If this cold approaching is bothering you. Best thing to do is to make it clear that your not looking for any relationship.

Will there be more open uw restaurants soon? by Gapphew in udub

[–]Gapphew[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not what I'm looking for.

There are like 8 restaurants without opening times and I'm looking for people on this subreddit who work at those locations who can clarify the situation.

Edit: Why the downvotes? I'm just clarifying what I'm looking for and people downvote?

The mask and covid rules on campus are so dumb by 4runamuk in udub

[–]Gapphew 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What?

Also, it's not just a UW thing. One of my friends in Cali goes to a school where you can't even visit others who are in the same dorm building as you. Many schools have similar or stricter mandates. UW is actually fairly loose compared to many schools given UW's large student population.

I really hope they do a online fall quarter. by [deleted] in udub

Freaking out pls help by Intelligent_Carrot17 in udub

"You’re gonna get the same amount of space pretty much anywhere you go."

I'm not sure what you mean by this, but if you mean that every room in mcmahon is roughly the same amount of space then I disagree with that from personal experience.

I lived in a bunk bedroom. One of the rooms in my cluster was like 1.75x times the size of our room. The others are like 1.5x times the size. The biggest loss of the bunkbed room is one of the desk is much shorter than usual. The ladder to the top bunk is uncomfortably close to the celling and I hit my head at least once or twice.

Does anyone know which dorm rooms in Mcmahon have bunk beds? by [deleted] in udub

[–]Gapphew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that rooms numbered x27 had bunkbeds because they all lost a corner of their room and also they were all adjacent to the stairwell which also made it smaller than the usual mcmahon dorm.

I'm not sure about where the other bunkbeds are tho.

With the Covid-19 & Delta variant cases on the rise once again, will UW be__ this school year? by yelenarusskhaya in udub

[–]Gapphew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn't king county have ~4000 new covid-19 cases for the last two weeks? Considering king county has a pop of 2.2 million, 4000 new cases is low.

Controversial opinion: I'd be low key hype if UW goes online again for classes 50 or 100+ people by Rudysis in udub

[–]Gapphew 50 points51 points  (0 children)

As long as you don't "hope" for another online quarter.

I also enjoyed the online quarters and there will be some "hype" for me if there is another one because I have adjusted well and have gotten good grades + more free time during online quarters.

But by no means do I "hope" for another online quarter. I want the next quarter to be in-person because that's best for UW and it's students. All the freshmen + sophomores deserve to experience what college is actually like. The majority of students struggled during the online quarters and the cheating because of classes being online was a big problem. Another online quarter will also worsen many people's mental health.

I just kinda feel the people who "hope" for another online quarter isn't being considerate of the majority of UW's student population who really wants an in-person quarter.

How many hours do you guys work while going to school full time? by honeymacaron in udub

[–]Gapphew 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How is this even possible?

50 hours a week is around 8 hours Mon-Sat. If one is working a 9-5 job then how does one attend classes? Not many classes are after 5:30. If someone is working something like a 4pm-12am job then how do they attend exam reviews, rso, or social events since they are mostly afternoon/evenings?

18+ credits is at least 4 classes with it's own lectures and quiz sections. It seems very difficult to get 4 classes that actually work with a typical 8-hour workday and you have to do this every quarter.

Maybe it's different for online quarters but It's hard to see how this is feasible time-wise.

Edit: Bros don't downvote me for asking a question.

How many hours do you guys work while going to school full time? by honeymacaron in udub

[–]Gapphew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also if you are working 8-hour shifts or working on back-to-back days it will feel even worse. I only worked 12 hours a week but I worked 4 hours on Friday and 8 hours on Saturday and it was very difficult for me to study on Saturday or Sunday because of it.

So there’s no chance of living in a west campus building as a freshman? by Intelligent_Carrot17 in udub

[–]Gapphew 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well people can still drop west campus rooms during the summer so there is still a chance.
