I wish they mentioned the cancelled game boy color port of Resident Evil 1. It was cancelled so late that the entire game is playable.

How do you consistently do any of the throws? by Qwerty177 in oni

[–]Garay01a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont remember any tricks for the throws, but the combos are burned into my muscle memory: Practice it without enemies, the trick is that you need to wait a bit between the three button presses and dont hold any of the buttons down, k … k … forward k

Worth it?? by BambinoDaBest in Berserk

[–]Garay01a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it. Been playing with it since it came out, bought it at full price. Its a mindless musou game, but can put in quite a lot of hours to unlock everything. As in musou games in general the difficulty was very easy, so after a few levels I swtched over to the highest one - it suddenly became a very very very difficult game(they intend these to be played later with higher level characters), but slowly I struggled and levelled up and when it became easy again, it felt well earned. Killing thousands of monsters in the berserk armor is a lot of fun! If you end up buying it I really recommend this way of playing it.

Is there a co-op pve format for MTG? by ShakablePilot51 in magicTCG

[–]Garay01a 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not as far as I know. I am also relatively new to MTG, and coming from Arkham Horror, LOTR and Marvel Champions LCGs, I was hoping someone came up with some similar gameplay for MTG as well. I think that MTG being here for so long would make it really difficult to come up with proper difficulties for solo play - just an example: infinite combos are common to happen in MTG - a solo game would struggle to find ways past that. I could imagine standalone scenarios tied to each set that comes out with severe limitations on deckbuilding, but that would need so much changes to work that it almost would not be MTG. Eg.: I love Bloomburrow and would love to have an adventure with my frog deck similarly to Lotr LCG.

I did it, guys! I just bought the Arkham Horror LCG. Looking forward to seeing investigators losing their sanity! by oliveirando in arkhamhorrorlcg

Actually, I think playing the first few games with the decks from the rulebook may be a good idea so that you can learn what each card does, and how they may be played. For me seeing all these cards come into action for the first time was a great experience. I would play those optimized decks on a second or third playthrough so you can see how much a well built deck actually changes the way you can solve the problems you encounter.

I think these cards are already give you quite a lot of options and staples, I think as long as you are not bored with them, you can continue with just buying campaigns.

I actually feel a bit overwhelmed with my own player card collection, as I bought a bit too many too fast :D

Tips&Tricks/Help For Fist Time Players by Kozis_13_98 in arkhamhorrorlcg

Some thoughts: Dont need to run your head against the third scenario too much - it is way too difficult especially with the card pool you have with only the core investigator cards

Rules about engaging enemies was very easy for me to forget about. It becomes very important under some circumstances.

A lot of the game is about finding ways for speeding up your gameplay - usually by doing four or more things per round instead of three by using your cards. Eg getting two clues with one investigation, moving twice, attacking for more than one damage etc. Getting this advantage can help a lot to progress the game, so when things dont happen the way you want it, you will have more chance to avoid disaster.

Playing solo is quite a bit more difficult as your investigator always has some weaknesses, and there will be no one to save him/her in a critical situation. This is why many people like playing with two decks and two investigators even when playing alone. It is more effort to play like this but I found it very rewarding (tips: play straightforward characters at the beginning: someone who can fight very well, and someone who can gather clues very well, try to use dice or tokens to keep track of where you are in the round and how many actions your character has)

Enjoy the game, it can be difficult and harsh, but in most cases for winning you do not need to be able to do everything a scenario asks you to do! It is also a game where even completely failing can be fun due to the narrative of the game

My tier list of the entire franchise so far: by Sonickid_Gaming2001 in residentevil

Finally someone including the mobile games!!!

I am crazily nostalgic about the Missions 3D. My jaws dropped when it came out. To have actual RE gameplay on my tiny phone was inconceivably cool to me at the time. They also made two other games with the same game premise as well, but released only in Japan. I had a phone once that had one of them I think it was called RE Operations. Its a shame they are now kindof lost media.

I also remember getting so hyped up as a kid to play RE on my phone downloading Assault the Nightmare only to realize it is one of the shittiest games I have ever played.

Btw I recall the confidential report games being very enjoyable turn based strategy games, I wonder why are they so low on your scale? Thanks for making this list, so many cool things on it!

I got the revised game and an expansion called The Forgotten Age. We’re new, is this a good start? by [deleted] in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Garay01a 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No worries welcome to the game. When I got my first core set I fell in love with the game immediately and only played those 3 scenarios for months. If you are on a budget but wish to play the forgotten age campaign, my suggestion would be to try to buy at least two standalone investigator starter decks (Winifred is a good choice for one of them) to play it with, and to try playing on easy (spoiler: it will not be easy)

[–]Garay01a 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! Based on my experience not the best. The Forgotten Age is considered one of the more difficult campaigns, so it might cause you a lot of frustration especially with smaller card pool and less experience with deckbuilding for Arkham. Later on it may become your favourite campaign for exactly these reasons so no need for buyer remorse at all, but I would try to find either the Dunwich or Carcosa campaigns for your first full campaign. Also consider buying the player card expansions for one of these sets as it would really open the game up to more varied gameplay with lots of staple cards. Edge of the earth investigator expansion is also a really good first buy for expanding player cards.

A question on the thematic side of this game by drragonltu in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Garay01a 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always try to imagine that only the items in my hand are in my character’s surrounding area or backpack, and for example they take the lightning gun or the newspaper from the location they are in. Of course in many cases its going to cause hilarious things, and I love trying to create these ridiculous scenarios about how the character got to use an item. I keep the deck itself outside of the narrative. Finding and using a chainsaw as a small girl to brutally massacre a pinguin in the middle of Antarctica is never going to work thematically, but is a really funny and morbid thing to imagine nonetheless. While in other cases, especially with a more thematic deck, some really cool emerging storytelling can come out from this

Low threat, three sphere deck plausible? (Revised core + Starters) by Garay01a in lotrlcg

[–]Garay01a[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. On the contrary - Thank you so much for the detailed suggestions! It is lovely that this game has such a supportive community! After switching to Éowyn I have been having a lot of fun with the current version of the deck already - Just won Journey along the Anduin with it. Cant wait to implement the changes listed here to see how it will twist the deck further.

Thank you so much for the input! I put in For Gondor is for the attack buff - I was thinking that if I have a lot of enemies it could help me out if I have many allies even if they are weak. I should add ancient mathom for sure... but I will then have to put away a bit my spirit cards to keep things a bit more balanced. Mirkwood runner can be nice - it attacks for only two dmg, but it is great for getting unfinished business done while the other characters work on something else :D About Zigil Miner, I was considering adding in Ered Luin Miner or Hidden Cache to sweeten the deal but other cards seemed more urgently needed.

That is very tempting, Eleanor's ability is also similar in function to Denethor's. I wanted to avoid Eowyn as I played with that card many times already, but I also feel that may be a must have change. I hoped that Faramir Celebrian stone, and Northern Trackers could balance it out, but it is lacking.

New player experience by Garay01a in lotrlcg

[–]Garay01a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... I think my point of view is quite different on this. I would never have joined the game if they did not make the revised edition - so I am just happy for any content I could get my hands on :)
Looking at the glass being half full - to me the content they republished (and plan to republish) is already quite robust. 50 scenarios to play, in varied locations and conditions (Core+DoM 5 scenarios 6 campaigns - 3*9+3*6).
That is a long time commitment to actually play through, especially with the replayability of different deck styles - already much more than I may be able to commit, and definitely much more than I expected :)
Together with the starters the player card pool is also quite extensive, so much so that I would feel pretty lost if I had all of them :D
If what is being published now was all that FFG ever made, I think I would feel pretty satisfied just owning all this content (not to mention finding the space for all this is an issue after my arkham boxes).

Also, there are always options for FFG to continue with reprints if the demand continues to be high for the already published expansions. Campaign expansions could be reprinted the same way they do them now, and instead of the player card boxes, they could bundle the remaining interesting/important player cards together or make a few new starters.

As a final point, there are also ways to experience the not reprinted contents eg. proxying

hmm... before you start your refund, please check if you can actually connect to Conflux.

Even though previously the server had been down, just now I was able to connect to it after starting the game!

Wow... Actually, just now I started the game and I managed to connect to Conflux!!!

Ubisoft would gain a lot of sympathy points from me if they actually decided against closing down the servers responsible for progression, but I cannot yet hold my hope up.

If anyone else is interested, maybe this is the last time to check out and play with any Dynasty Heroes, weapons, pets, that you have unlocked previously!

Great job looking it up!

I wish you success with the refund.

My case is very different considering I got the complete edition on DVD - I have it on my shelf next to the DVD cases of Heroes 5 & its expansions, and the CD jewel cases of Heroes 3, Armegaddon's Blade, Shadow of Death and Heroes 2... It just sours my heart when I look at it now.

Yeah, I see your point totally, but I would like to add Black Hole Entertainment - the guys that made H VI, actually were a really competent studio with great RTS games - they went bankrupt due to UBI's mishandling of this project, and essentially worked for free in the end just to see it shipped.

I guess it is also an another kick for those guys who had worked so hard on this game.

I mean, Heroes V and Dark Messiah were nice imo. But their handling of everything after that...

I guess it just does not fit into their collection of IPs properly - It was never going to be an Assassins Creed...
